Question about Magellan Maestro 3250 GPS

3 Answers

This is the second time in 2 years this has happened. When I turn on the unit I get a 'Warning - low battery" message, even though I am plugged into the car via the cigarette lighter power cord. (I have checked the power cord and it is supplying current to the unit). If I press YES to continue, I go into a loop where the unit performs as usual, except it flips back and forth between the battery warning message and the normal GPS screen. I sent it back to Magellan the first time, but apparantly they didn't make a permanent fix. Any suggestions? Steven Tomaryn

As I mentioned in my original post, I already checked the charger cord! This appears to be a sealed unit. Is there any way to check the battery? And/or replace it?

If it shows on the indicator that you are in fact getting power to the GPS, you might want to open it and check the battery connections. If you need to replace the battery it is a:

Hi,

Does it shut off when your using it on the PC? If not, there is something not right with the car adapter. Also, just because it was plugged into the car adapter does not mean it was charging. Many cars will turn off the cigarette/accessory jack when the ignition is off or shut off after a short while to protect the car's battery from being run down. Try hooking it up the the PC overnight and leave the PC on. In the morning, disconnect the GPS and try using it. Does it still shut off? If so, the internal battery may be bad. If it works and doesn't shut down, you have a problem with it not charging in the car and the adapter may be bad.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I would suggest you check the charger and get a test meter and read the voltage reading at its end.Sometimes over wear and tear the wire inside the charger snaps (or is on border of snapping which then will give you some reading on the tester when you play with the wire charger) and cause an open connection.Hope this helps else you have a bigger problem with the navigation itself.

My Garmin Nuvi 265W Won't turn on

Lets put the battery issue aside for the moment. A Nuvi should power up as soon as the charger is plugged into it. It will turn on even if the battery has been removed. Of course, once you remove the charger, the unit will die immediately because the battery has been removed.

The first thing I would suggest doing is trying a reset. There are 2 ways to reset a Nuvi 2xx or 2xxW.

On some units (earlier versions), there is a flap on the bottom of the unit that you press in momentarily to reset the unit. There will be a label on the bottom with the units serial number and the word "reset" on the label.

The other method (newer versions) is to slide the on/off power switch to the left and hold it for at least 10 seconds.

Another common problem with these units are loose/broken connections on the rear USB port. There are 5 pins on this port. If the power pins are loose/broken, the unit will not be able to charge the battery. The unit will not turn on because the battery is dead. Even if you plug in the charger, there battery will not charge.

The unit will not charge the battery if it won't turn on.

The laptop can not be turned on though it is plugged in

Usually such old laptops show problems to turn on if the battery has a loose contact or if its completely blacked out. Looks like you have to change the battery and then keep the lap on charging mode for 2 hrs and then switch on the system and it will work. This is set as a default by some manufacturers to ensure that the lap works on backup on a sudden power failure. Please remove the battery, use a multimeter and check the voltage which has to be a minimum ranging from 7 V to 14.3 V and if its anything less than the same, you need to change the battery which will fix this issue. Good Luck

Simon 3 "System Low Battery" after 3 years use

I install these panels.  For the low battery message to clear you need to power the system down completely.  To do this you need to unplug the battery and also unplug the transformer plugged into an electrical outlet.  When you power the system back up, you need to first plug in the battery leads.  Then the transformer.

Low battery warning

What type of batteries did you buy?

For digital cameras, you want to use batteries with high milliamp hour (mah) rating: "2500 mah" if they are rechargeable.

If you bought regular batteries, you want to use good quality. Look for the "e2" or "better for digital equipment" type.

Does the camera have a DC power plug option? Try taking pictures with it plugged in if it does. If it still malfunctions with power right from the wall, then you bought a bad camera.
