SOURCE: The tension on the recumbent exercise bike does not get hard

If your bike has magnetic resistance and you changed the batteries this should make your tension work properly. Since it did not I believe that there are magnets somewhere on your bike that are wearing out. Or it could be a computer part. Your manual should tell what part you need to order and replace. I hope this information has been helpful.

Also make sure the batteries that you put in your bike are really new ones. Sometimes you can purchase new batteries at a store and they are actually a little weak. I had this problem with an elyptical trainer and I went and got other batteries and this fixed the problem.

You can get to the battery from the bottom. Flip the bike on end display up. You should see the battery on the underside near the top just below the front stabilizer. It has 2 5/16 head screws holding it in from the bottom.

If you have not used your machine in about a year, most likely the battery is dead. You can find most of the parts you may need here:

It sounds like you are dealing with a stretched chain. If the chain will not tension any further, you may be looking at the need to purchase a new chain. Use your model and serial number at the following link to order a new chain.

Resistance settings not working on fitnex r70 magnetic resistance exercise bike

If this is a new bike that may be the way it is. If it worked differently in the past, you may be looking at a busted tension motor or faulty brake.

For how long an exercise bike lasts?

Most exercise bikes are designed for many years as a long period investment, if you use your bike frequently and you're taking care of them and properly maintain them there is no reason to replace the old bikes.

Is an exercise bike better than a treadmill?

Both treadmills and exercise bikes give you the benefit of cardio vascular exercise. People, as do I, often prefer the exercise bike over the treadmill because of that the bikes are considerably cheaper than the treadmills and allow you to sit while working out which may allow you to prolong the exercise session.
