Hi.
The Automatic Feeder unit is not well closed, or a part in the unit closing mechanism is damaged. Paper stuck in the feeder can also trigger the problem if this is preventing the feeder cover from closing properly.

To start disconnect printer power cord , open and close the feeder cover, look for jams and connect back.

If the problem is still there, then please follow the instructions on this page.

If still no luck contact HP, in that case the printer is faulty (sensor, wiring, main board).
See:Customer Service / Contact HP , or use the number listed on the printer manual.

When making copies, auto document feeder picks up paper and rollers squeal but paper gets stuck on underside. If you lift the lid about an inch the paper will feed through. HP Model L7780

open the top cover, on the very left there is a part that can be removed (running front to back) I believe you will see a scrap of paper iunder there. remove the paper, replace the part and try again

The document feeded is not pulling the paper. What should I do? Do you have this part for sale? How much?

Is this happening on TOP Feeder or Actual Paper Tray..

Turn off the printer
Remove the TOP ADF Cover and Clean the Rollers with lint free cloth
Remove the Rear Access door and clean the Rollers

Close the Doors and turn on the printer.

Hi
Check the following
--Check the paper in the ADF (automatic document feeder)
--Make sure the ADF pick assembly is in good working condition
--Remove the document feeder and open the ADF cover.
--While lifting the blue-green lever, carefully rotate the pick assembly toward the open ADF cover until it stops.
--Make sure the bottom roller is held firmly in place by the two-catch, which is located to the left and the right of the roller.
--Clean the rollers and separator pad

The auto-document feeder on our HP L7780 OfficeJet Pro printer doesn't pick up the papers anymore. The 'gears' are spinning, but the papers aren't advancing. I've cleaned the rollers, but that still didn't...

I put an elastic band around the black roller as it doesnt seem big enough and it works nearly every time now. Have done this with another L7780 Pro as well which fixed it completely on that one.
