To my knowledge there are only to terminals for the sensor on the opener. The wires should be color coded. For the sake of this discussion we will assume black and white wires are used. The two white wires are twisted together as well as the two black wires. They will then attach to their corresponding terminals on the opener. I don't really know how to troubleshoot the door track for you. The only thing I can think of is that maybe when it fell it was damaged and will not allow the door to move freely. The track should just screw into your garage rafters. Good luck.

I have craftsman 1/2 hp door opener and when the door has been down for three to five hours it will just open up by it self

Disconnect the wire from terminal #1 on the rear of the motor unit. This will disable both the wall control and the wiring to it. If this stops this problem then you can by a process of elimination determine if it is the wall control or the wiring. Replace the wire at terminal #1 and remove the wires from the back of the wall control. Remember which wire goes where. If your problem still doesn't happen then the wall control is bad.

My craftsman 1/2 hp garage door goes up only about

Release the door from the opener and operate the door by hand. Check the weight of the door. If it is heavy check the door springs. One could be broken. Also take another look at the gear you replaced. Did you use the lubricant on the gear? If not the gear will not last.

Craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener, model 139.53970SRT, 8-99 Was working fine, then the plastic drive gear got stripped. I replaced the worm and drive gears and all works great mechanically, except...

Make sure you put the black cup back on the end of the motor shaft and that it is pressed all the way on. Make sure the RPM sensor is plugged in. If neither of these are the issue, then you probably did not have the motor shaft pushed all the way back when you tightened the coupler after replacing the worm gear. Loosen that coupler up and from the front of the motor (opposite end in which the coupler is on) push the shaft back as far as it will go. Hold it there while you tighten the coupler back up and then try it.

Garage door opener will not work after gear replacement

From your description it sounds like you forgot to plug in the RPM sensor.

CRAFTMAN 1/2 HP OPENER

You say it only opens two feet?? Then closes?? If I may if you a little bit more costly option. Dont replace the gears. They used to be really good 8 years ago but the way they make the gears now there too soft and often strip out much faster. I would suggest that you do what we call a motor head change out. Take off your old chain drive motor head and buy a new one. Pretty simple. Two things though one always make sure you put the new one in with the door down. And the traveler in the down position ( The traveler is the metal thing hooked up to the chain) but far and your gear that you have it sounds to me that you dont have the gears close enough.. but 100 percent on that but a door should never close on it own. It's not safe.

Garage door opener motor will not open garage door

It sounds like you did a really good job! My Craftsman 1/2 hp gar. dr. opener has a red reset button on it on the l/h side as you are looking at the light/motor from the garage door opening. You have to take the light cover off to be able to see it. My reset button is on the same side as the ground wire. You might check the ground wire while you're there. I really hope that this fixes it for you (and me). I'm quite sure it will as you know your way around the garage door opener already. Good Luck and Let me Know (Please) if it fixed it or not. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Have a Good Day!
