The solution is to go to BIOS and u can enable and disable the HDD password query item. U can disable it and u can run ur computer again.

I would recommend that u take it to a technician but if u can be able to open it u need to remove the cmos jumber inorder to clear the cmos settings, also try to remove the system battery switch on the notebook and the switch it off after a few seconds, replace the battery and switch it on again. It should laod up with default settings which might make other devices not to work since the settings where cleared, so u need to reconfigure the Bio's settings again

Well I've tried every possible variation on re-setting the bios, battery out, jumper, switching on and off and the problem is still there. Nearest I've come to a solutions is this: I bought a new hard drive and re-installed everything!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had backups of most things so didn't mind too much throwing the problem drive in the bin. A bit severe you might think, but it was the only way I could get my laptop back. Best of luck to all:)

Lenny is incorrect, i'm having the same problem and already looked into a cmos wipe, that's not going to work as a HDD password is stored, as one would guess, ON THE HARDDRIVE.... no luck yet, sorry.

the only solution is for you to call the acer tech support and they can generate a password for you to gain access to your hard drive and bios.
