You can replace them with higher value capacitance and voltage but not lower. I use good caps made by PANASONIC FM or FC series (105c Low ESR, high ripple current) from DIGIKEY.

Hook up 5-wire fan capacitor

U hook it up the same way the old one was hooked up. Did you take notes or pictures of the prior cap connections?

And without a model number how do you expect anyone to really be of assistance? Huh?

I have an outside unit mfr Goodman, model # CKL-49-1. The blower motor isn't working. I'm able to hear it attempting to start. How do I check this motor to see if it's bad? Thanks

You have bad capacitor on your unit it may not look bad but chances are it is just get the microfarad rateing of the side of the cap. should be like 55.5 55 7.5 something like that. Also check your fan motor. last. I have changed hundreds of caps this year. Russ

Instal capacitor on Rudd 10Ajb24a01

Hi, this is a 2 ton unit from the numbers you have provided. I'm not sure what you are asking about the capacitor?? If you are installing the run capacitor, is it for the compressor/outdoor fan motor? I can't tell you how without looking at the schematics on the unit. Its pretty simple though. If you know its bad, you may have to purchase one online. You have to be a contractor in the hvac field to get one at a wholesale store. If its a dual run capacitor, it will have a c, fan, and herm stamped on top. This is for the compressor and outdoor fan motor. It will say something like this, ( 30mfdx5mfdx370 volts and so on. The 2 brown wires on the condenser fan motor will go one taped off and the other on the fan terminal if you are using a dual cap. If you are using a single 5 mfd or larger on a new motor, both brown wires will go to each side of cap. I will need more details if this is not what you need. Thanks

Need capacitor wiring diagram

No model number gotta shoot from the hip on this one:

The cap has 3 sections: Herm for compressor, F for fan, and C for common.
The common section of the cap gets a hot wire off the power cord, a wire from compressor marked C on compressor and a white common wire from the fan gets connected to C on that cap. These wires are almost always white in color on American OEM. The fan has a small brown wire that connects to F on tha cap. The compressor has a wire marked S on it make a note of that color wire and connect it to the section on the cap called HERM. Herm stands for hermedtically sealed compressor. So both your commons and a hot wire go to C. You need one small brown wire which goes to F from the fan. One wire marked S on the compressor goes to Herm for compressor starting. S stands for start winding.
Lets look at typical American fan motor wires: The fan has a black wire for high speed a blue wire for medium and a red wire for low. It has white wire for common, and a brown wire for capacitor. Connect your common fan wire to common and the brown wire to F.
With that cap properly connected basically all you would need to do to make it run is connect a fan speed, the compressor wire marked R for RUN, and and the other power wire.

look on the side of the motor it will have a wiring diagram your fan supplies voltage to the capacitor its self so two of your wires go to the capacitor not just one. good luck

I just purchased an fse1028sf to replace my faulty fan motor. I purchased it from a a/c supply store. My existing fan only had three wires. They were brown, black and purple. Black to: capacitor "c"....

Hi, this is a different wiring diagram then what you have . The 2 brown/wht wires are for the run cap only. Black and white are t-1 and t-2. They sold you a motor that takes its own run capacitor to run it with just both brown wires. Take the diagram from the new motor back along with your original. They will give you the right run cap to go with this motor. Yes, the red wire is power to fire your existing cap and old motor. You will need another cap to run this motor. Don't put the 2 brn/white striped wires on the old cap! They have to be alone on there own run cap. Go back to the parts house and they will show you very fast the wiring diagram and give you the cap. This is a very easy fix when they give you what you need. Keep me posted and ask them to give you what you need to run the motor. A 5 uf run cap perhaps?
Keep me posted.

Trying to install a fan motor for my outside ac unit replacement motor has 5 wires on it. my old on had only 3 driving me nuts

Your old moter had three wires. Common High and brown for capacitor. This one sounds like a two speed. Dont worry Now you have two brown wires for you capacitor instead of one. Tape off brown wire with white strip. Connect other brown to cap. You should have a white or yellow for common wire and black for high. Tape of the other extra wire and wire in like the three wire. Wires

2 brown wires go to a split capacitor if you have a dual cap which has three terminals marked comp fan com if u have this type of capacitor then the brown wire goes to fan and the brown and white gets capped with a wire nut. whenever replacing a fan motor you should also replace the cap or at least check the capacitance to see if it is still good. you have to check it with a meter that test microfarad.you can get a permanent split capacitor and mount it in there then u use the brown on one side and the brown and white on the other side it only has 2 terminals.

On modern capacitors 2005 or up the capacitors can go bad and not even bulge at the top. I replaced a few in my moms flap panel monitor and found out that there were more that were bad and they didn't show any signs of damage but put your finger on one of those suckers and it burns like a smoking gun.
