Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Greesey Spots......... My washing machine has suddenly started leaving, what looks like greesy spots, all over the washing. The spots are that of the little holes around the drum. I have tried doing a high temperature wash on its own with a touch of detergent to see if that would clean it up, but to no avail!! Please help!!!! My baby daughters pretty clothes are getting ruined. Thanks

Thank you. Is it/would it be difficult to remove the drum? If it is the shaft that is creating the problem would this need to be replaced, cleaned, fixed? and would this be an a job we could do?

Thank you again for any help you can provide.

Looks like the grease would be coming from the shaft at the middle of the tub. that would be the only source of grease in that area.you need to remove the whole drum to look at it.

yes it is a difficult job to remove the drum, the shaft could either be repaired or parts can be replaced. and i dont think you can do it yourself.

GE WSXH208FWW washer leaving spots on clothes

If you are getting round dark spots on your clothes after washing, the problem would be cause by a bearing seal leak. What happens is water leaks pass the seal into the bearings, and the grease leaks back into the wash water. To fix it would require the machine to be literally taken completely apart to get to the bearings. Very costly to repair. Sorry.

My washer leaves oil spots on my clothes

The only place where oil can enter the wash would be if the bearing seals have failed. It's a major repair, and the entire machine has to be taken apart to replace the bearing and seal.

Leaving brown stains on clothes, messing them up,

If it isn't rust, I suspect cotton can decompose if moist for a long time (in the laundry or machine), causing brown spots. In that case, the spots probably cannot be removed. Or can they?

Grease /oil spots on clothes coming from washer

Hello,
This sounds like the drum bearings are starting to wear and allowing grease to infiltrate through the inner seal.Does it sound noisy on the spin cycle.

Leaving black residue (spots) on clothing

Black spots usually come from the agitator shaft bearing seal which will, when worn, allow oil from the transmission to seep into the wash. Replace the seal, and maybe the upper bearing if the shaft itself will move visibly from side to side in various directions. If the machine is still under warranty, take advantage. Hope this helps!

If you use fabric softener it may be from the softener. Dilute your softener 50% before pouring it in.
