System error H4-00

H4 indicates a heating problem in the fuser. The roller never reached a specific temp. Make sure the fuser is free of any left over paper pieces (maybe from a paper jam). Check to make sure its clean.
Try reseting the the error in service mode.
To enter the test command mode, press the keys as
follows one after the other :
[#] key [*] key [C] key [*] key then enter 14 and press start/copy key. this clear error counter. make sure to restart copier afterwards.

Blinking red light with system error H4-00. Help!

The H$ is not a generic toshiba copier error. It usually associated with the smaller desktop copiers only. The H4-00 indicates a temperature problem in the fusing unit. It could be one or more of the following items : thermostat or thermistor or heater lamp or the control board.
You could try taking the fuser unit apart and cleaning it. Try resetting the error in service mode. make sure you are in copy mode.
press the "C" key then the "auto/text/photo" key then the "C" key then the "auto/text/photo" key again. enter "14" then "start" - this will reset the fuser error. IF there is something wrong with the fuser the error will come back again.
Then its time to call you local service center.

H4 error code

H4 codes are related to the fusing unit. Specifically a low heat condition. Follow the reset procedure below. If that doesn't work further diagnosis of the fusing unit an peripherial circuits may be warranted.

Error code reset:

Perform the following key procedure
"#" key, Interrupt key, "C" key, Interrupt key
"1" key, "4"key
Start key, "CA" key.

See if unit cycles and comes back up. If not turn off and then back on the main power.
If error reappears on site technical service may be required.

The correct buttons to push in order to get into the service mode on a 162D are [#] key, [*] key, [C] key and [*] key. Then you key in 14 - 00 and press the Start key. If that fails to bring your machine back on, you'll have to replace the fusing assembly.
