To connect your computer to the Internet via a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

First make sure the wireless card driver is installed.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure wireless card in the laptops and orcomputers with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Cant get wireless internet...however i can when mx6445 is hook directly to modem

connect directly to your wireless router, hook the modem to the router WAN port. From the computer type http:\\192.168.1.1 and log into the router. First make sure you can get Internet on the laptop through the wired connection. Then setup wireless without encryption or WEP and see if you can attach to the device unsecured. If both of these work, set WEP up and make sure you use the key and not the passphrase to authenticate.

The key looks something like AAB4562E...

Passphrase

Since you forgot the security ket for the wireless network you need to access the router setup page using the a computer that is working fine with the router,
On the internet exploreer address bar of the working computer type in 192.168.1.1 , then that should be asking you for a username and password, just leave the username blank and password is admin. If tha admin password didn't work try typing your commonly use password.
If you're already on the setup page of the router, Just go to wireless tab then there's a wireless security sub tab there where you can find the security key that you need...

Hope that helps...........

Network Ssecurity key or passphrase

Your key or passphrase is set in the wireless router. You will need to hook up a pc directly to the router, check the user manual to find the address of the router, then http to it to set the key. Then, once this is done, set the same key in your laptop card setup. If you'll let me know what kind of card you have, I can direct you to the specific location for the key.
