All data from 2009 has disappeared from my quickbooks POS 4.0 operating system. All other years are accounted for. Where did 2009 go and how can I get it back? This has happened before and remember that what I did to correct was pretty simple but have forgotten

Hi,

You want to do two things Verify the data and rebuild the data.

To do so, here are the instructions:
Verify your data:

  1. Close and reopen QuickBooks to create a new Qbwin.log file.
  2. Choose Window > Close All, so that no company files or QuickBooks windows are open.
  3. Choose File > Utilities > Verify Data.
    • If you see QuickBooks detected no problems with your data, your data is clean. Click OK.
    • If you see Your data has lost integrity, your data file is damaged. Run the Rebuild Data utility to repair the damage. You may need to run Rebuild two or more times to repair all of the damage. Rerun the Verify Data utility after each rebuild to verify that the errors have been corrected.
    • If your see A data problem prevents QuickBooks from continuing, then your data file has a structural problem. Run the Rebuild Data utility to repair the damage.
Rebuild your data:
Important: If the company file is on a network drive, copy the file to a local computer before attempting to run this utility. Be prepared for this computer to be unavailable for several hours running the Rebuild utility. Never rebuild or update a company data file that is located on a remote drive (for example, by accessing it over your network).

Hope this helps

Thanks Mark

What kind of user best benefits from the Accu POS Retail point of sale system?

The AccuPOS Retail Pos Software was developed with small to mid-sized retail operations in mind. This particular segment of the retail market typically relies on QuickBooks, BusinessWorks or Peachtree financial accounting software to track business activities and manage their accounting. AccuPOS Retail offers a key advantage over competing products - that being that it integrates seamlessly with the aforementioned accounting systems. This integration means that no new procedures or feature sets must be learned in order to operate the system effectively. In effect, if you can operate your accounting system, you can operate AccuPOS Retail.

Is there a utility to repair a Quickbooks POS

I don't believe there is such a utility.

However, in looking for a POS solution, to your question, I was directed to this page (a special phone number for Intuit Data Recovery Services):
http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/service/datarecovery.aspx

My research said that this article applies to POS just as it does to the regular product (even though this page does not specify that it relates to POS).

Convert QB POS to QB Premier Accountant

a) If you previously syncronized POS 2008 with the financial product, then no, you cannot syncronize the data again, unless you tag each transaction (for the whole years) as "unsent".

b) If you have never syncronized POS 2008 with any QuickBooks Financial product, then yes, you can syncronize/download the data into QB 2009 Accountant Edition.

Before you do either: Make sure you do not already have 2008 data in your file.

Upgrading from Quickbooks Pro 2003 to Quickbooks 2009

I would not open up the company file in 2009. Open your 2003 Quickbooks, make a backup and then restore the back up in 2009. If you do run into problems you might want to upgrade into 2006 and then to 2009. (you will need to find someone who can do this for you if you don't have a 2006 version. I can help you with that if you need it
