Question about HP LaserJet 1320 Printer

Hp laserjet 1320

It won't print!  i added a new cartridge and still nothing - I replaced a Q5949A print cartridge with a Q5949X (high volume - 6000p).  i removed the tab and little plastic strip @side, but only after i accidentally asked it to print a test page :(  i thought for about 2 minutes as to what was wrong, smacked myself on the forehead, and took the cartridge out and removed the strip.  have i blocked/clogged some jet heads?

I picked up a 1320 for only $5 but I don't want to spend $$$'s on a cartrige if it doesn't work. I was able to get 2 used cartrigdes, but neither one prints anything at all.. I would imagine even an empty one should get even a smudge on the page, but I get nothing at all. The toner light comes on for both. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm wondering if possibly a hardware issue.

I picked up a 1320 for only $5, but I don't want to spend $$$'s on a toner cartridge if the printer is bad. I was able to find 2 49A empty cartridges, but neither one puts even a spec on the page. I would think even an empty one would give something. Is this common? I'm thinking mabye a hardware problem.

I had found my problem with this.. There is a little plastic "interlock" tab on the cartridge door of the printer. It's about 1/2" x 1/2" and is about 1-1/2" from the right edge of the door. When you close the door, this tab blocks the light sent from one side of the sensor to the other. The black sensor is about 1-1/2" to the left of the orange button and just under the top of the printer. Mine was just bent over (about to break off) so I just glued it back in place, and the printer works great...

1. check the cartridge on another printer to check if the cartridge is OK.
2. If cartridge is OK, print a test page on the printer. If the paper comes out properly, the mechanism turns properly, does it have any print out even a faint one.

Try these and keep posted.

Printer cartridge alignment checks

Is this with new cartridges or refilled?

If refilled, the nozzles may have become blocked which isn't the easiest thing to clear. If new cartridges, take them back for a replacement at the store and try again with new ones

How do i reset my hp laserjet printer 1320 to its factory settings coz its printing faint and the cartridge is new and original?

It may be a defective cartridge regardless of its age. Did you remember to remove the pull strip on the cartridge? Is it getting more faint as you print more? If yes, replace the cartridge.

I can't remember what side ink cartridge i need

You will need to purchase either the Q5949A or Q5949X for the LaserJet 1320.
The Q5949A will print approx. 2500 pages at a 5% page yield or
The Q5949X will print approx. 6000 pages at a 5% page yield.
