Since rewiring my Philips VCR/DVD (Model DVP312ov/7) it responds only to channel 3. How can I reset to channel 4?

I guess I didn't clarify the details of my problem. I previously had this VCR/DVD hooked up

to the same cable box & TV and was working perfectly thru channel 4. (cable box to VCR to TV).

After removing VCR and attempting to connect to different cable box I decided to place it back in it's origional set-up. I wired it exactly the same way as previous, however, now it will only play on channel 3. My problem is: (1) There is no channel 3/4 switch on unit, and (2) I've lost my owner's manual which may have offered instructions on how to reset to channel 4.

Is their a standard way to reset thru VCR menu? Where can I get another owner's manual?

    Thanks, cdodgerdog

Try doing this...Press VCR to put the DVD/VCR in VCR mode. The VCR light should be on. Insert a tape and then start the playback. While tape is playing press and hold the play button(VCR side) for approx 3 to 5 seconds. This should switch the output back to channel 4. Repeat this to change it back to channel 3. The VCR is factory set to be on channel 3 so when you unplugged the power it was long enough to change it back to 3. So remember this procedure if the power goes out! Let me know if this works and if you have any other questions.

Also sometimes you may need to hold the VCR button and Play(VCR) at the same time for 3 to 5 seconds to get the channel to change if holding the Play button only does not work.

You haven't meantioned exactly what you rewired or what the hookup is now? I must assume that you are using the cable connection through the tuner in the tv. Check the rear of the dvd/vcr and make sure the wire going to the tv is hooked to the connection marked out or out to tv and the other wire, cable I presume, is connected to the input to the dvd/vcr. If this is all wired as stated there should be a switch on the rear of the unit marked channel 3 (to left) channel 4 (to right). Slide to channel 4 and you should be able to watch the program on channel 4 on the TV. I also just realized you could be talking about the input to the dvd/vcr, it isn't clear which end you are referring to. If that is what you need to know you still need to check the wiring I just talked about. Is there another device ahead of the dvd/vcr such as a cable box? If so it is probably capable of being reset to a different output. That information should be in the owners manual. Usually it requires going into the menu of the device, finding the output selection and changing it to the desired channel. A better way to get the signal to the dvd/vcr would be using the composite output. If you would like to try that let me know and I will try to walk you through it. Let me know how you make out.

Ok. Let's see. Had it hooked up to a box. Worked ok on 4. Removed then decided to hook back up to same cable box, would not work. My first thought is that when your unit losses power it defaults to channel 3. If you access the menu it should be straightforward how to change the channel to 4. Check this out and get back to me.

I guess something else just occurred to me. Why does it matter whether it plays on channel 3 or channel 4? It should still work with your tv. Does your tv have a problem with channel 3? Let me know.

Need to down load the codes i need to use with a dolby dvd player

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sru3006_27/sru3006_27_dfu_aen.pdf

That is the link to the manual if you need it. All the codes and information is on page 7

Press and hold the SETUP button until the red
indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired mode button (TV,
VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables (on
separate sheet). Note: after a valid code entry, the
red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red
indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the
device responds, no further programming is required.
Note: If some buttons do not operate your equipment,
try one of the other codes for your brand.

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be
controlled.
2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red
indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
3. Press and quickly release the desired mode button
(TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks off once.
4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to
300 times) until the device to be controlled changes
channel. The red indicator blinks off with each
button press. If you accidentally overshoot the
code required, press the CHANNEL DOWN button
to backtrack through the library until the device
changes channel. Pressing CHANNEL UP changes
direction to forward again.
5. Press and release MUTE to install the code.

The tv is stuck on channel 3 and i want to change the channel and i have no remote. How do i do it? I have a magnavox tv dvd/vcr vcr recorder model 20mc4304/17

This is hard but understandable. If you cannot change it on the frount of the unit with the channel up and down buttons then you may have to get a universal remote there is no solution or quick fix or any type of factory reset unless you had the remote to get into the menu. good luck

DVD input with signal access

IF I understand you correctly, the VCR, Satellite, etc is connected using an RF modulator/coaxial cable wire going into Antenna in

IF this is true, then you have an AV IN port (red, yellow, white) free on the back. Just connect the red, yellow, white from the out of the DVD - you can use 1 or 2 - just remember which one you used; and connect it to the AV IN on the back of the TV.

THEN press ch down on the TV remote until you get to "AV1" - it is below channel 2; double check DVD player to make DVD is playing and voila!

Trying to watch vcr on channel 4, but the vcr is set to channel 3

You can watch the TV programs
with the tuner of the unit. (Usually
channel 3 or 4 of the TV is
available for the RF converter
setting.) Be sure to connect the
unit to a TV using the RF cable.
1
Select channel 3 on your TV.
2
Press [VIDEO/TV] on the remote
control.
• If noise appears, change the
RF output channel of the unit to
CH 4 by pressing [VIDEO/TV]
for 3 seconds. The RF output
channel will alternate between
CH3 and CH4
