Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

When machine cycles to spin it seems be out of balance. When empty the tub has more play as if it has lost support that would prevent excessive side to side travel.

There is no possible way that whatever load may be in the machine could be causing the apparent out of balance condition. This problem is intermittent and can occur with a load consisting of two pairs of pants or light weight comforter. Understand that the load can be small or large, (but not excessively large) something that would be wll within the design parameters of the machine. The washer in question is a Kenmore Model #4025090, Type 111, Serial # CA0923069. I hope this is the info you need to supply a solution. In closing, just to let you know, the tub moves from side to side as if it has lost support somehow.

Machine is a Kenmore Model # 4025090, Type 111, Serial # CA0923069. I am well aware of how to correct an unbalanced load and do not remotely consider that scenario as a solution.

Hi.

To start try regulating balance, as illustrated on the owners manual. Depending on the model, there are several faults that can cause same condition.

Please give us the complete model number , so that we can help further.

Thanks.

    Hi.

Sorry about the delay, I received a different question while waiting for your reply.

Regarding the model number , I cannot find it yet. I think there must be something wrong. You can try it yourself in Sears Kenmore website below:

    http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

I assume this is a front load Kenmore.

If the drum is moving from side to side, in that case one of the shock absorber, or the struts located at the side of the tub may need replacement.

Here a general diagram. I can find exact diagram and parts only if I can track the model at Sears.

Samsung vrt front loading washer loud noises and not spinning

The washer tub has dampers to absorb this spin cycle vibration, your machine must have some broken dampers for the tub.

Why does the tub not drain completely after the end of the cycle? This creates extensive mold and odor problems.

The pump is partially blocked or restricted that empties the machine. There is usually an access panel so you can check for debris, buttons, coins, hairgrips etc in the pump. Be ready to catch the water if you pull off a hose.. The alternative is the pump motor is running slowly due to dry bearing or corrosion. Both could prevent the pump from fully emptying the system.

Will not spin the clothes dry it's seem it is not balanced ?

You may have One wet heavy item (one sweatshirt or one bath towel) that is not evenly dispersed within the wash tub, and this will prevent the machine from reaching and completing the spin cycle.

Drum is loose during Spin and Rinse cycle and banging against side of washer

If it is under warranty, call Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538. If it is out of warranty, try running the washer with no clothes in it in spin cycle. If it runs fine empty, it may be that when you had clothes in it they were not balanced evenly in the tub. If it runs off balance when empty, then a spring may have broken or come off. Contact an appliance repairman.

The washer tub bearing may be defective, but that is the only thing that I can think of. Are you noticing this on all loads or just heavy items like bath towels and jeans? Are you redistributing the clothes before the final spin, try that. Also do not overload the washer, wash to medium loads instead of one full to the top load. Wastes water but saves on repairs.

This model of washer does not have an out of balance cut off switch. If the load is not balanced properly the tub could hit the cabinet sides. If the unit spins evenly while empty & out of balance while loaded, I recommend checking & balancing the load. If the basket spins out of balance while empty, I recommend having the suspension springs & balance ring checked. Be sure not to wash light fabric with heavy fabric clothes. Also ensure that the adjustable feet are level, that's most important.

Washer making loud noise. Shuts off, not draining.

It appears that you have an imbalanced load, or a nearly balanced load with a machine that easily goes off balance during spin. I would suggest:
1. After the unit trips on imbalance and stops spinning, open the lid and redistribute the laundry load inside to balance its weight equally around the interior of the drum. Note that cotton fabrics hold much more water than synthetics, and this has resulted in imbalanced loads even though they visually appear to be balanced. Close lid to restart spin.
2. Remove the front panel and check both tensioning/centering springs on the sides of the tub. A loose spring could easily cause the machine to go off balance.
3. Finally, check the main bearng play by holding the drum steady and moving the top of the agitator spindle horizontally toward the rim of the tub. Any excessive play is a clear indicator that bearing is excessively worn and may be resulting in an unbalanced load.
