Question about HP PhotoSmart 7960 InkJet Printer
Printer says it's in backup mode
Have you reset your chips on the ink cartridges, if not the printer will still think it is out of ink.
If printer is very slow you need to download the drivers again. If all else fails, disconnect and set it up again from scratch. Hope this helps.

Ink-backup mode lets you continue printing with one print
cartridge when the other print cartridge has run out of ink.
Ink-backup mode allows the printer to operate using only one print cartridge. It is initiated
when a print cartridge is removed from the cradle.
Exiting Ink Backup mode
Install two print cartridges in the printer to exit ink-backup mode.

Because the "colour" cartridge is empty, the printer is working in "backup" mode -- rather than NOT working at all.
Replace the empty cartridge.

This might need to be reset.
Here' how...just follow the instructions..
There's two ways to reset it
First: Soft Reset
1. Open front cover.
2. Hold down button located under LED's until all LED's are lit.
3. Release button and make sure drum LED is off, then
4. Close cover
Second: Factory Reset
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer.
3. Turn the printer back on.
4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button.
5. Hold in the circular button on the front panel again.
6. Once the Alarm light comes on, let go of the button.
This will perform a factory reset on the printer.
I hope that's everything you want.
