Question about Thermador Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

I have a Thermador gas hob on model PRSE304 and need to replace spark plugs. I have obtained Bosch Ignition Head part 189324 but these are too fat and too short. The cooker is over 12 years old so maybe they changed the part. Could you advise?

Thanks for that but my problem isn't knowing how to replace parts but knowing where to get the correct part. I am told that Bosch Ignition Head part 189324 replaced an earlier no. 20.02.377. Maybe this is what I am looking for!

You need the Bosch AP2838563 ignition plug assembly. Call these people to see if it is on back order and when it can ship. It is $16.67. It is item number 40 on the page. Here is the site.

Look it over and let me know if this helps. Good luck!

Hi

For replacing igniter( spark plugs) you neeed to order the new part for which you need the hob/oven number which might be on a sticker label on the side of the oven or inside a drawer. The model number is also required which is on the hob/oven or instruction book. Contact the spares department of your hob/oven manufacturer and buy the spare parts. Now switch off the gas and electricity to your hob/oven, and slowly note how the hob igniter ( spark plugs)comes away from the unit. Unscrew the top and it folds upwards revealing the innwards. Your igniter unit may require you to unplug the existing unit and plug in the new unit. Be sure to make a note of how the hob comes apart so that you can fix it together again.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Cooktop short circuits the electrical fuse when plugged in

Try removing parts or connections until the fuse does not blow.

With a gas hob, you are limited to a short in the ignition system.

As the igniter has failed try removing it. This should solve the fuse problem, if it doesn't, look for a short in the wiring.

I have a Thermador SGCS204R cooktop. The rear

Well first you need to verify that it is getting proper gas pressure to that burner. Try lighting the burner manually with a match. Does the burner look normal? If the burner flame is really small then you will need to remove the burner head and check the orfice for a restriction. If it looks normal then it probably is a weak spark from the igniter, igniter electrode is out of position, or burner head has dirty ports at electrode causing no ignition. Inspect the burner head. If it is removable then take it off and clean out the burner ports(eyes) with a sewing needle. If it is not easily removable then try doing this while it is still installed on the range. Also try using a wire brush on the electrode to clean any carbon/debris build-up casuing a weak spark. You can also try bending the electrode slightly with a flatblade screwdriver(be careful don't break the elctrode) away from the burner creating a larger spark.

Ignitor keeps sparking not wet or dirty even when no burner on

Will most probably be a problem with your ignition box. If you want to test this try taking off the hob by undoing the screws under the burners, be very careful with these however as it is very easy to strip the thread on them, once you have the hob off try unplugging the ignitor that keeps sparking and swapping where its plugged into the ignition box with another ignitor. These ignitor can be plugged into any plug in the box so no worries there. If the ignitor keeps sparkings in another hole its the ignitor. If the new ignitor sparks its the ignition box. It will most probably be the ignition box. Is a common fault

Thermador Gas Range - Griddle ignition will not spark

I have a Thermador Gas Range PG364GDBS - Oven, 4 burners, and center griddle. All are gas. The four burners and gas oven work fine. The griddle just stopped working, no spark. Turning on the griddle control, the gas valve opens(hear it), gas flows (smell it), but the ignitor will not spark (no loud or faint spark that I can hear). I got a replacement ignition device (mount at the burner) thinking it might be the problem, but still no spark. I checked the AC voltage at the terminal and measured 39 VAC between the terminal and ground. Not sure if that is the correct voltage. Any insights or advice would be great.
