Sorry cannot seem to do that, have tried but cannot get diagnostics up, but now we have a red recording light on but it is not recording, I think it has a mind of its own. cannot switch the recording light off.

Mary, You can check the DVR function in the diagnostics by turning off the box and press OK within 2 seconds, arrow down to PVR/DVR status, DVR status should say True, if it says False there is a problem with the hard drive and the box will most likely need to be replaced. Try to unplug the power from the box for 1 minute, then plug back in, the box will need to load the IPG again before you will be allowed to record again. I hope this helps.

If you have trouble bringing up the diagnostics it is usually caused by not timing the button presses just right, maybe press ok two or three times as soon as the box goes off.

The recording light being on when the box is off is a setting in the menu called RF Bypass. Press menu button twice to bring up the full screen menu, arrow down to setup press ok, arrow down to cable box setup press ok, arrow down to RF bypass (if it is on, turn it off by pressing the right arrow), then press exit to get out of the menu.

Allthough The DVD's I have were made on the DRVCR900, they now cannot be played on it, I'm thinking that the finishing process never took place in order to code it to play on all devices, is there...

Hi,
Finishing / finalizing DVD should be on the DVD recorder that you recorded previously..
Put it back in..
go to MENU
and look for FINALIZE title under RECORDING menu..
and select it OK ,let it finalize..then you can play it in any DVD player..
one note ..do you know that this recorder can only record to DVD-R
DVD-RW discs...as Write support..not the ones +R/RW

Hope this helps!..otherwise let me know..
Take care and please

Hi
Does your dishnet box have two tuners or one, if only one then only the program being watch on the tv can be recordered , this will have to be connected to the av input on the recorder and one of the av (line input) selected with the remote control for the recorder, If the dishnet box as two tuners then the output from one tuner can be used to feed the tv and the other one will go to the recorder connected through the av input. hope this will help regards windyhouse

RCA Boombox model # RCD158A - will not record

Hiya 2 possibles here:
1 - At the back of the cassette, there are 2 "tags", one on the left, one on the right. if those tags are broken out, it wont record. You put a piece of tape over the holes, that wll do

2 - If thats OK (dont know the beat box myself) but often you need to press play and record together

I have a canon ES 970 I was wondering, whether its possible to re use the cassette I have already recorded once on it and I have so many cassettes collected

You can record over previously used cassettes, but the recording quality may not be as good as with a fresh cassette. If you can find a bulk eraser, you can completely wipe out a previous recording and get near-new quality on your recording.

Cd rewritable player recorder tascam cdrw4u

I never had that problems. I have been using it over five years. Does it play commercially made CDs (the ones you bought at the store)? Panel shows track numbers and sound volume? Can you hear it by using a head set (phone volume control turned up? If so, now recording part, do you have input select correct (analog or digital)? Input cable(s) into right connector(s)? When you press "record" button, does it put into "pause" mode? Can you watch the incoming sound levels when it is on "pause" mode? Can you start the recording with remote's fader button or play/pause button on the machine? Good luck.

CHECK

here is the link to the user manual; http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/WS100200Sman.pdf depending how important the previous recordings are, formatting the recorder (page 2) may be the best option - can you still access the files if the recorder is connected to a PC?, in which case save the files you want and try the format. If this doesn't help, please ask again :)
