Question about Dell Computers & Internet
Blank cd's are not recognized when placed in the cd tray. "Please insert a blank CD" displays. I have an internal cd drive in my Dell laptop & also an external cd drive. This error happens with both cd drives.
The internal cd drive stopped recognizing blank cd's, so I purchased an external drive which worked well until a short time ago. Now that one also doesn't recognize a blank cd either....Frustrating! Help!!
I would first try removing the device in the control panel, system, device manager and then reinstalling the driver. There may be a problem caused by a windows update. In general CD drives rarely go bad. If the CD works say for a music CD then it should work for blank cd. You may also want to check the CD type. If you accidentally used a DVD, that won't work and in some of the older CD drives, they may not handle every type of CD format.
