Question about Motorola Mobility CLIQ Cell Phone

2 Answers

I bought my phone on EBAY. I have checked my sim card on another Android phone and it works fine. The technical support people at Motorola are not able to help me as there is no "System Reset" option on my phone. It only comes up with the procedures for setting up a Motorblur account and then an error: "Error creating account. The phone radio is unable to connect to the network. Make sure the radio is on or if it is on, move into better coverage area and try again." (By the way, there are five bars showing for good coverage.) This may be a network error where the frequency is different here in Australia. Please assist. Thank you.

Hi.
You Sim-card works fine on another phone but did you try another sim card besides the Vodafone network?
You can try to insert a T-mobile sim card (if you have/can find it) and then start by creating a MotoBlur account (did you try that?) * https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37747/p_country_code/US
*you can change the location.
You can also ask the dealer if the phone had an existing MotoBlur account and then log-in https://portal-blur.svcmot.com/blur-web-portal-1.0/?x=yncDX3QajxysvYmZri33rQ

If this doesn't work, try to reset all the default settings. Make sure to save everything before doing that.

Sorry, but you have not yet provided enough information to answer this.

Was your Motorola Cliq originally locked to a network (if so, which one) and in which country?

Which network are you attempting to access?

I may be wrong, but I'm fairly sure that the Cliq currently will not work on Oz networks: the frequency capability is in the hardware, but I don't think that the phone's advanced features currently have the firmware for your neck of the woods.

I sincerely hope that someone else proves me wrong.

You won't be charged for my answer if you refuse to accept it, but other potential answerers will not be able to read my comments so I respectfully suggest that to attract the best answers you'd be wise to re-submit your question with all the relevant information.

Best regards,

Rob

OK with the additional info provided then your problem is simple and basic: you CA use your phone as a simple phone in Oz, but the advanced features rely on MotoBlur and these are currently exclusive to T-Mobile in the USA and Orange in the UK.

I don't know where else in the world you can get MotoBlur, but it definitely has not yet been launched in Oz and no announcements have been made as to which network will have it if it ever does come to your country.

Unfortunately, your only options are to either wait and hope, and even then you may need specific local firmware, or to resell the phone to the market it's intended for, the USA.

If you want an Android phone then I highly recommend the HTC Hero. It has a later version of Android to the Motorola, excellent integration of social networking into your address book, and is so incredibly easy and intuitive to use. Plenty of good free apps and games too. The only reason I sent mine back was that like ALL Android phones and all current generation HTC models, it lacks Bluetooth Voice Dialling. This cannot be added as all 'Droid phones currently have a Bluetooth chip which is incompatible with voice dialling anyway, so there's no rush in 'Droid circles to implement it into the OS anytime soon.

Typo correction. 1st line, last answer should read CAN and not CA. Sorry :-)

I can't remember my 9 circle code for my tablet

Hi johnking1,

With your problem, you need to contact your phone company that sold you the phone to restore the code fo your Motorola XOOM Android Tablet.

Or in your case you need to contact your SIM card phone provider technical support.

Hope it helps.

Thank You for using Fixya.

Call up tmobile, do not tell them you have a rooted phone or that it was modified in anyway, otherwise they will blame it. They will be able to help you get it working by modifying / adding some settings in your phone.

I have a motorola i335 i purchased from ebay hoping to use it with boost only to find out it has a nextel sim card ...can i still use it with boost?

Yes you can use it, but, you need a boost sim card.  Nextel phones work fine on Boost (same network) but you need a boost sim.  You can get them cheaply on ebay, often with the $5 dollar credit for under $10.00.  Otherwise go to a local phone store and get a boost starter kit.  They are made so you can start service with a boost or nextel phone.

Got a motorola razr v3 on ebay. Not reading SIM card.

It may be caused that when you take out sim from old phome it has damaged, try for old one is it still working? if not then your sim is dead, also old phones made SIM-s to be bend and such SIM-s have difficlt electrical connection with new phones.
Also find if "this sim only" is activated in your phone.
It must give you signal, Insert sim card, or insert proper sim. If insert sim card warning card is damaged or have not enough good connection, if another, then this sim only is activated you first you must unlock it to work .

MOTOROLA NO SERVICE

alot of guys that sell "unlocked " phones sell a regular network-specific phone but they'll include a universal unlock wafer-thin sim that fits in your phone between your sim card and the phone contacts. Look in the box ..if you still got it look for a plastic sd card sized container and see if there's one with you phone... if not you can get one on ebay for about ten bucks..
let me know what happens... KEN

Location of SIM card in Motorola Razr

Are you guys serious....

Verizon & Alltel (which happened to recently finalize the merge) use CDMA. CDMA does not use SIM cards.

AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. use SIM cards - wheter they are 3G networks, TDMA, etc.
