Can't boot from flashdisk

USB thumb drives give you the ability to mobilize information, but they also have the power to act as a boot disk for both Windows and Mac computers. If you have a bootable thumb drive that you want to boot your computer from, you can easily set it up in the BIOS menu of your Windows computer or through the boot menu in Mac's OSX.

Plug your USB thumb drive into the computer. Boot the computer and follow the on-screen prompt to enter the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) menu. You should "Press a certain key Usually the DEL or the F2 key to enter BIOS setup" or something similar when you turn your computer on. Follow the directions to enter the BIOS menu. Scroll over to the "Boot" menu in the BIOS screen. Change the primary boot device to USB port or something similar depending on your BIOS menu. Restart the computer with the USB thumb drive in the USB port. b> Mac b> Plug your USB drive into your Mac's USB port. Turn on the computer while holding down the "Option" button on your keyboard. Wait for the boot menu to appear with all of your bootable devices shown. Use the mouse to select your USB thumb drive from the boot menu. Wait for the computer to boot using your thumb drive. Hope this helps.

How can i boot my dell studio from cdrom so i can reinsall from external drive?

Turn on the machine, press F12 once the Dell splash screen is displayed, the boot menu will show up. From the Boot Menu, use up-down arrow keys on the keyboard and highlight the CD/DVD/CD-RW and press Enter. You will see another menu, select "Boot from Cd-Rom" and press enter to select it. The system will boot up from the CD-Rom. Please note that this settings is only for one time boot, once the system is restarted, the boot sequence will be restored to the previous saved settings. If you wish to set it from the Bios, enter the Bios settings by hitting F2 or Delete (should be shown at the bottom of the Dell splash screen) while you see the Dell Splash Screen. In the Bios settings menu, go to Boot options and make the changes with the boot sequence.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

What is the word rebooting?

Depends on how it's used.

1) "Boot your computer up", may refer to simply turning the computer on.

2) "Reboot your computer", may refer to turning the computer completely off, waiting 20 seconds, then turning the computer back on.

3) The Windows operating system has a Boot Record, which is located on a Boot Sector on one of the Platters in the Harddrive.
These are the basic Windows files.

The computer can also be booted off of another source than the Harddrive.
It can be booted off of a Floppy Drive disk, USB thumb drive, CD disk, or from the internet, to name a few sources.

Therefore it can also mean to reboot off of one of the above sources, instead of the Harddrive.

Insert your installer to the lap top then try to change the boot up priority by entering the bios. Try to press del key while your lap top boot. If these deosn't wok try F1 or F2 thesame process. If you have enter the BIOS, look for the boot priority which includes the First Boot, 2nd Boot and 3rd boot. Change the 1st boot to CDROM and the 2nd boot to hardisk. Then save the changes by pressing F10. your PC will reboot and it will direct you to the OS installation.
