Hi there. Need some help. I love my pioneer stereo receiver VSX-454 and have had it since 1996 and working perfectly. I have connected by internal speakers to A and my outdoor speakers to B. The question I have is my IPOD. I would love to connect my IPOD to the receiver. Is this possible and if the case, what exactly do I need to purchase and how is it connected to the receiver. Would love your help. Many thanks
Get an RCA-to-whatever-size-the-headphone-output-on-the-IPOD-is adapter and jack it into any available aux or line level input.
Phono is ONLY for Phono. It has a preamp behind it that boosts the tiny current produced by a Phono cartridge to Line Level and also applies wicked steep equalization to offset the process applied to the sound before it gets cut into vinyl. You don't want to feed it a line level signal.
ANY Line Level input will work for you. I can't find a picture of the back of it but I'm sure you have something back there that's not being used, even a Tape Input. One discussion group mentioned a Laser Disc connection. Use that. BTW: with the exception of Phono, the rest of the analog audio inputs on hi-fi are completely interchangeable. The labels are suggestions.
Well, you have to get an RCA adapter that fits the headphone jack and 2 Male RCA connectors on the other end. Try Radio Shack. For whatever Tape Input you use you'll have to select it to hear the Ipod. Some receivers call it Tape Monitor.

Hi there
Thanks for your reply. I don't have an AUX on the back of my receiver. Having said that can I connect a red and white cable to the back of the receiver in the PHONO outlet then run it to the ipod jack? Is this possible? Sorry for sounding so vague. Await your reply. Ta
this is fantastic. Will give it a go over the weekend. Will connect it to the tape component as this is not being used. So I get this right, you are saying to connect a red and white cable to the back of the receiver in the tape section whereas the other end of the cable will be connected to the ipod - Is this correct. Please dont shoot me....!
thanks for your help. I will give it a go over the weekend. Thanks so much for assisting me with my query. Cheers
