Not a lot you can do except take it to a sony dealer it needs Bios rominfo changed which can only be done with the right softwre tools.
Provided the board supplied is from the same series everything should work o.k except you will not be able to do a system recovery.

Battery/Ac adapter issues for Sony VAIO Model

So I gather the laptop does not run when the battery is in and the AC adapter is not connected? Laptop batteries tend to ware down over time and will need to be replaced as they end up not being able to hold any charge. Look online for a new replacement of the battery under the model number of your laptop

Keyboard not recognized by laptop

Ok I need you to be a bit more specific here...

What is your laptop's model name and number? You can normally find it on a sticker below the keyboard to the sides of the touchpad or on the bottom of the laptop. For example I have a Dell A950, and an HP Pavilion 9250.

Before I can help you at all I need this information.

I have just purchased a new sony battery. my model no. is sony vaio VGN CR510E/L. The laptop doesnt recognize the new battery BPS9 and it says update the bios. i just downloaded the sofware bps9.exe but...

If the battery is not a Sony battery but an equivalent, the Sony may not recognize it as there is not the specified "bit" of information built in to it. It maybe just totally flat in which case it will take a number of hours on charge to get it recognized.
The BIOS upgrade must be done with a good battery fitted and the AC Adapter working otherwise if the power fails whilst loading, you cannot recover the BIOS again.

The Sony VAIO VGN-FS830 comes with an integrated graphics chip made by Intel.

The actual model is "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900". The chip uses up to ~128 MB of Memory/RAM for graphics.

More information can be found on the product's web page.

Change ram from 512 to 1 gig bios cannot read added ram

The original 2 sticks of 256 Mb of RAM gives you a total of 512
Mb of RAM. Two 512 Mb of RAM gives you a total of 1 Gb of RAM.
With two sticks of 512 Mb of RAM are you sure you got a total of 192 Mb of RAM, this is a lot less than the original RAM total of 512 Mb?
Should this be 1920 Mb of RAM?
If this 192 Mb is correct then the RAM modules are either not compatible with the laptop or if the RAM modules are not from the same manufacturer then they may not work together.

Most laptops have video cards that use part of the main RAM for video RAM, that is why the available RAM is less than the installed RAM modules. The amount of RAM the video card grabs depends upon the type of video card and in some cases the amount of video RAM can controlled in the BIOS setting.

I have a Sony Vio NoteBook Computer-Model PCG-992L.

With the Sony, if you do not make a recovery disk set from a functioning laptop, you are out of luck. However, you can load any retail version of an operating system, go to this link
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCGTR3A
to download all of the device drivers, and continue using your laptop.

Good luck

My Dell C600 won't recognize the 2 new 256 mb sticks of RAM

i think you need a same brand of 256 for it to work? and when you buy something for your computer make sure that the one you both is the same brand or code with your 128 for example you have 128 ddr2 sdram so you can only upgrade it with 256 ddr sdran or 512mb,1gb,2gb ddr sdram.

Memory (RAM) issue

How many RAM slots do you have? Are they coloured differentlly? For example 2 blue, 2 black. If so.. Put one 512 MB DIMM in either a black one or a blue one, and the other DIMM in the other slot of the same colour.

I hope this solves your problem.

Greetings,
