Question about Panasonic NV-GS25 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Hi - Please help. I have connected my Panasonic NV-GS25 to my macbook via a firewire cable and wanting to import prerecorded video into imovie. imovie reads the camera and follows the timer on the camera, even controlls the camera's stop and start etc, but won't pick up the actual picture. It remains a blue screen. Can you please help?

Sounds like some kind of codec issue. What is the format you are trying to import in?
Also we have to figure out whether the problem is with the capturing or playing. May be just some kind of encoding issue. Download the VLC player(for MAC) install it and play the captured file. See if it works and let me know.

Macbook pro doesnt recognize the panosonic pv-gs9 when connected with firewire

I take it that your macbook pro has imovie on it. If you open up imovie and plug in your camcorder it should recognise the camcorder and give you access to putting the movie onto your mac. Have a look at http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/ it should help.

I require a link to download the software for a Panasonic NV-GS25 video camera to be able to transfer from tape to DVD/PC

As you may know, the Panasonic website has only the update files for the MotionDV Studio LE software that came with the camcorder. However, this DV camcorder has a Firewire connector. You just need ANY video editing software, the right Firewire cable (4 or 6 pin, or 4+6 pin cable), and a Firewire port (add a card to your computer , if it doesn't already have Firewire, aka IEEE 1394A).
  • Apparently, Vista and Win7 on many newer PC's come with something like Movie Maker. Mac OS X has iMovie. Both support Firewire devices.
  • DVD burners and computers with DVD burners usually come with some kind of burner software. Sometimes, they have a basic (Lite) video editing package - examples include Nero, Roxio, and Ulead. Even at the "Lite Edition" level, these video editing packages work with Firewire camcorders.

Hi how are u sir ? i have panasonic -nv-gs25 camara and i want to copy video from min dvt tape into hard disk trhough usb cable. film show result on pc but copy and paste is impossible plz help me for...

You will require a firewire cable to transfer the tape to a pc. Movie Maker should be on all later model PCs.
You will not be able to see the video like you can on an external drive. The tape must be transferred in real time. That means 30 minutes will take 30 mins to copy.

I want to download film onto my laptop from my Panasonic NV-GS50 and don't have the driver **** to load onto my computer. where can i get the software??

You are in luck! You do not need a driver for this camera to transfer video over the firewire port into your computer. All you need is the appropriate cable and some video editing software. The software can be as simple as Windows Movie Maker (if you are on a PC) or iMovie (if you are on a Mac). Plug your camera into the firewire cable, turn it on and put it in playback mode, then start your video software. Then there should be an option or menu entry labeled "import footage from camera" or "import" or "transfer from camera" or similar, depending on what software you are using.
Good luck and happy video editing!

JVC videocamera isn't seen in Finder on MAC using Firewire.

Hi, Sorry you are having problems,
You are really really close, be sure the camera is plugged in and turned on on preview mode and then launch ( Open ) the iMovie application on your Mac, the iMovie application will recognize the camera and probably prompt you right away if you want to import video from the camera.
There you go, it's that easy...
