Try cleaning the flame rod and igniter with a cloth (do not use sand paper or emery cloth). Look for evidence of a water leak inside the unit.

I've got a Worcester Bosch boiler had a leak In the pipe On the landing so a friend emptied the boiler an I fixed the pipe but I don't know how to refill the boiler

Can you get the manual online? You have the Manufacturer info so you probably have the model number too. I found a manual on Manuals.com for my boiler so they may have yours too which will hopefully have some information on filling boiler although I realize each installation is somewhat different but that's why it's difficult to answer you question. Usually there is a manual pressure valve that regulates the water pressure in the boiler which is usually pretty low...like less than 20 lbs. The manual should tell you the pressure as well. But this pressure valve has a flip handle that comes off the cold water line to the boiler to do just what you want to do...refill it with water. When refilling the boiler (if you find the valve, you may have to purge the air out of the lines which there is a whole other process for. But you shouldn't allow cold water into a hot boiler...it could crack it when the cold water hits the hot cast iron. So make sure the boiler is cool when filling it up.
Now go try to find that manual!

Hi I have a problem with my valiant combo boiler making aeroplane noises when heating comes on and i turn on the hot water. It's only started doing this so can some body help.

You don't say what model your boiler is but if its one of the older types in my experience its caused by the built in bye-pass and would require changing it to overcome the noise you describe which is what most customers describe. You can prove it by turning the central heating valve of on the flow side of the boiler momentarily you will hear the noise stop then quickly turn it back on, it often helps to you replace with new one.

I have a riello burner 40 it will fire and come to temp but wont refire, goes into lockout

My first guess would be that it sounds like a clogged oil filter, air in your fuel line, is piping overhead, or leak in a fitting or connection causing it to loose it's prime when running.

I have also seen primary controls that are faulty do this, watching the complete cycle of the run time will give you more clues as to when the control actually locks out. Does it lock out during the run cycle as the boiler reaches temp.? If so,check for oil line and suction issues as stated above.

If it locks out on start up after reaching boiler set temperature, if hitting reset right away burner doesn't start and lock out occurs with no motor engaging, check motor (Note: Some motors when HOT will not kick in when powered, but after they cool down naturally they start, motor shaft may also be bound up tight, replacement is necessary) if burner motor spins but does not fire, check for fuel flow to the nozzle, be sure oil is pumping to the nozzle, if it is, clean cad cell eye, and check transformer for spark, if all is good.. replace primary control.

Disclaimer:
Of course all this information is technical troubleshooting information and should be performed by a Licensed Technician, not knowing how to properly test for flame failure can cause injury, fire or worse! Consult a technician in your area if you are not proficient at oil burner repair!

New Vaillant 360 eco plus boiler, takes almost 3/4s an hour for rads to come up to a decent temp. Hot water is fine. Called out install Engineer who is an excellent tradesman but he says everything

We have just had our old system boiler replaced with a vaillant ecotec plus 837 and sounds like a similar working operation to ours. At first I was a little concerned, but I was told by our installer that he was told by vaillant that these very latest boilers size the system on start up for about 10 mins, then take temperature to target flow which you set boiler at. So even by setting target flow temperature very high you still get the initial sizing cycle, which ours was about 30-35c temp. These boilers seem to run biased for efficiency as after a while they modulate the boiler burner down and the radiators run more on the side of warm than really hot like the old type boilers. You also get better efficiency as at lower temperature the boiler condenses better. You will also find you get a more constant temperature in your home rather than over shoots. I was concerned at first, shame there was no info/explanation in user manual as people do need to know that this is normal operation. We are used to ours now, took a month and by the way these boilers can make a creaking noise but was told this normal expansion/ contraction but annoying when sited in bedroom cupboard. Best of luck!

Brand new valiant condensing boiler installed will not work

Valliant boilers have software that can be used to diagnose the unit. The software can be purchased at the plumbing supply house that the boiler was purchased from. You can also get tech. service by email as well. It sound like there is an issue with the electrical controls with it. Or the controls were wired wrong.

is there a toime delay on the thermostat ? And when you installled it did you see a section that says installers mode settings? You can get good information from the manufacture web site for the setting for the type heat and application that you are using the thermostat to control. Good Luck
