Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

My machine wont pick up the bobbin thread, and when it does, and I start sewing, it keeps jamming, and the thread locks around the bobbin spindle. It keeps sewing in one spot, which I have to cut the thread to get it loose. i have repeatedly taken out the bobbin and put it back in, but I keep having the same problem. Perhaps im not threading it right.

Check that the bobbin thread is pulled thru 'the tongue' of the bobbin case: that is what controls general tension of the lower thread. also make sure the upper thread is threaded thru the tension disk and the disk is 'grabbing it'.

How do I get machine case open to take care of thread jam around spindle

Um, you cannot fill a bobbin while it is loaded in the shuttle. To fill the bobbin, you have to remove it from the machine, go through other threading sequences and wind the bobbin on the outside of the machine. If you'd provide us with the make & model of your machine, we could probably help. With the information we've been provided, there's not much we can do.

Why the bobbin wont wind correctly

My Brother has another spindle to wind the bobbin. Be sure to thread the thread through the two loops. I wind the thread around the bobbin a little and then start the machine. I find that using the cutter on the bobbin spindle helps to hold the thread on place.

Why is my singer SEWING MACHINE prelude HAND WHEEL RESISTING

Make sure the bobbin winder is in the position away from the bobbin stopper. When you fill a bobbin, you have to push the "spindle" towards the handwheel. If you do not push the "spindle" back into position (away from the handwheel), the wheel will remain locked.

What's your problem?

if the bobbin thread is winding around the bobbin winder spindle then
the bobbin is not sitting correctly on the bobbin winder spindle,,
the bobbin (metal or plastic) should lock in on the bobbin winder spindle
& the the thread should be around the bobbin tension guide

My sewing machine is like stuck or something the nob wont turn it wont sew it wont do any thing but make a noise

Is the thread jammed around the bobbin area? Open up the bobbin cover and check it all out, clean out any jammed or broken threads and rethread the machine.

The other thing to check is that the clucth in the side wheel is engaged. If you disengage the clutch to wind a bobbin, ensure that you engage it again to start sewing.

Hope this helps, otherwise it might be serviceman time.

The bobbin thread will not pick up. The machine had jammed and I forced the wheel and can't get bobbin thread to pick up. When I thread manually, I only get holes, no stitches. Is it a timing belt?

check your needle to see if it's bent---roll on flat surface to see if it roll correctly
on some sewing machines when the thread comes off the thread take up lever it can cause the machine to jam
also if the bobbin thread becomes tangled it can jam
check the bobbin area for lint or loose threads
try having a top thread tail & bobbin thread tail of 3-4 inches
try holding the top thread tail & turn the handwheel on the right side on the machine manually & put the needle down into the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick up that way

Keeps getting jammed

Hello,
Give these solutions a try.

* Un-thread your machine and remove your bobbin. Clean any loose thread or lint out of your
bobbin case. Re-thread your machine, reinsert and re-thread your bobbin.

* Change your bobbin as there could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you sew.

* When you start to sew a seam, Hold the upper and bobbin thread tails back and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting jammed in your machine.

I hope this helps.

Bobbin spindle won't spin

Check the bobbin winder rubber, it may be worn or broken and insufficient friction against handwheel to turn.........or a thread jam around spindle is stopping the spin. In this case, carefully unwind, DO NOT cut thread.
