Question about Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USN Lens
How to chk if IS is working on Canon 18-55. I suspect that it is not working on my lens.
Take handheld pictures at a slow shutter speed (1/8 to 1/30, say) with the IS switched on and off. Shoot the same subject under the same conditions, zoomed in all the way to 55mm. Then look at them on your computer, zoom in to 100%, and see if they look the same.
Make sure you compare the pics at the same shutter speed. The EXIF info will show the shutter speed and the (alleged) IS status.
You can also try listening to the lens, but that's not as reliable since it may indicate the lens trying but not succeeding.
