My seagate portable cant be detected by my computer because it fell on the floor i want to reyrieve my data what shoul i do?

Hi there,
If the external hard drive can't be detected, you can try this way.Put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in the freezer for overnight. Then while it's still cold plug it into the computer and you may be able to view it in 'my computer'.
If it shows up in 'my computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you can't access it,you can recover data on it with data recovery program to avoid losing them.I have succeed with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage etc.You can get it here:
After you recover your data, you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed.
If it fails, you will have to go to a recovery office where supply data recovery service but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money and whether they can recover data is not guaranteed.
This article will help.

Understanding Windows Defender

Real-Time spyware protection alerts you when spyware and other potentionally unwanted software attempts to install itself on your computer. Depending on the alert level, you can choose one of these to apply to the software.

Quarantine: Moves the software to another location on your computer, and the prevents it running until you choose to restore it or move it from your computer.

Remove: Permanently deletes the software from your computer.

Allow: Adds the software to the Windows Defender allowed list and allows it to run on your computer. Windows Defender will stop alerting you risks that the software might pose to your privacy or your computer. Add Software to the allowed list - only if you trust the software and the software publisher.

You can choose the software and settings you want Window Defender to monitor, but recommend that you use all the real-time protection options, called agents Real Time Protection Agents!!!!

I hope the above information is of some use!!

I have a autorun.inf virus in my cimputer that disable my task manager and regedit. please help me!!

Remove the disk-drive from your computer.
Attach it as a "slave" disk-drive in a different computer that has up-to-date anti-virus software installed.
Run the anti-virus software, targeting "all" the files on that "slave" disk-drive,
if you believe that it is possible for any anti-virus software to remove 100% of any computer-virus.

Or, read:

which describes "best practises", namely to copy all your data files, "flatten" the disk-drive,
reinstall Windows, and reload your data.

Or, take this incident as an "opportunity" to install a new (larger? faster?) disk-drive into your computer, disconnecting the old disk-drive, and to reinstall Windows,
and to install an anti-virus software package.
Then, temporarily attach the old disk-drive as a "slave" drive, and copy all your files.
When the copy completes, FORMAT the "slave" disk-drive, to wipe-out ALL the files on that disk.

I cant able to install my HDD FreeAgentGo 1TB usb to my computer

Have you installed the software from the CD first.
Most USB drives automatically install the drivers needed, but when they have advanced features, you need to install the software first

Driver does not install atomatically

With the computer off, plug the unit in to the computer and turn it on.

Now start the computer, there is no driver to install manually, windows
uses generic drivers to detect plug n play devise's.

Out of hundreds of computers, the only time I have not seen a hard
drive detected was because the hard drive was bad, and the others
where hacked versions of windows, called lite xp, or the chipset drivers
where not loaded because someone just installed windows but nothing else.

You can look through your bios for plug n play, but its probably set to auto.

Most external HD's take a while to be detected from 10 seconds up to a few minutes.

If the driver does not install automatically, what driver are you installing
that you get it to work ??????????????????????????

Does the external hard-drive copy and backup installed software that is on my original computer if i try to plug the external hard-drive into another computer?

No, installed software cannot be copied just like that. in order to use install software installed on one hard driver to another you must clone the hard driver and of course you may jot want to do that. You may copy the files but you will not get the software installed.

This doesn't require downloading anything, installing anything, or holding your mouth in a certain way.

1) Plug the drive into power and into your Vista PC's USB port.
2) When the 'Found New Hardware' wizard pops up, click the recommended option. When it says it can't find the drivers, select 'Show me other options', and then Browse your computer for drivers. Choose the C:\ drive, and click next.**

**The key here is that Windows Vista comes pre-installed with the drivers for the Maxtor external hard drives. So they're on your PC, even if the Wizard tells you they're not.

4) Wait a few minutes, and yo will see a window that reads, "The software for this device has been successfully installed," and now it will appear as a drive letter under 'Computer'.

thanks RP
