Question about Computers & Internet

2 Answers

Computer Have recently installed new Processor, Motherboard & Ram in a new ATX case. Processor a AMD Sempron LE-1100 Socket AM2, Motherboard a MSI K9MM-V based on K8M800 and VIA VT8237 R Plus chipsets. After assembly, the PC was used for data entry in Excell. Since USB not working I open casing and checked all the wires. Since then PC switches off 1 - 2 secs after pressing on button. Doesn't reach boot stage. Will not start again until mains switched off and then on again. My PC-savvy son & nephew assembled the PC a few days ago when they were here on leave. Won't be back soon. Need urgent help that will be highly appreciated.

Had posted a problem of PC switching off by itself a few secs after pressing On button. The MB, Processor, Ram & Cabinet along with power supply were new. Went back to seller who said the switch was faulty and rectified it. Now the PC is fine. Thanks to all for suggestions.

Hi, Turn off your machine and unplug it from the power outlet. Make sure you have no static electricity on yourself by earthing yourself to the case. Remove, the CPU make sure no dust is present and re-install it ensuring that it is seated properly.
Do the same with the RAM chips. These 2 areas are the most common cause of boot failure.

Hi infofreak,
Try to follow these steps one by one.
1. Remove the power supply cable from the hard disk, CD/DVD, floppy drive or any other device you might have.
2. Check the wires that go to your front panel ;pwr sw, reset, hdd led, pwr led, speaker etc. Make sure there are at the correct position.
3. Now turn on your computer, if ok you should see some info on your monitor screen.
4. If ok, you can put back the power cable to hard disk only left the others open. Turn on the computer , if ok then proceed with other device one by one. If something wrong in between then maybe your power supply isn't deliver enough power to your system. Get a larger rating power supply.
5. If step 3 is not ok, then take out the power cable on the motherboard from the power supply. Wait a few seconf and place it back to the connector. Make sure it is securely fit, you should hear a click sound once it is fitted in. Turn on your computer.
If Ok repeat step 4.
6. If still not ok, as step 5 this time take out the CPU.

Try the above steps and see whether they can solve your problem. Good Luck

The issue of motherboard drivers is not affected so much by the processor itself as the chipset type/version installed on the motherboard and the operating system you plan to run on it. If you can provide the motherboard manufacturer, its model number and revision, and what operating system you are going to run, we can point you to the correct motherboard drivers.

Your socket is AM2. You can put any AMD processor that has AM2. If the processor is AM3 just upgrade the bios of your motherboard and it should work. If you need further assistance, just leave a comment. Cheers

I want mother board AMD SEMPRON(tm) PROCESSOR free home edition

That chip should be a Socket AM2 interface, so these mothorboards will be fine, it all depends on how much you want to spend.

Foxconn M61PMV

PC chips A15G

Biostar K8M800MAM2

ABIT NF-M2PV

MSI K9N6PGM2-V

Have a look or ask at your prefered site or shop for Socket AM2 and you will have a much better choice.
