1. Make certain you are using the correct charging plug in adapter. This can cause serious troubles.
2. Replace the batteries and if no dial tone..........
There is no setup or program that will give the cordless set dial tone once removed from the base.
3. Make sure the cordless you have came with that base.

Let me know if this helps....
There are other things we can check with more info.

Phone won't hang up, stays on the line even after hitting 'OFF' button

We recommend you test the main base unit with a different telephone cord on a different telephone jack.

My panasonic home phone only rings once, it used to ring normally and would also say what number is calling. please help.

We recommend you unplug the Panasonic base unit and make a test call from another number. If the line disconnects after 1 ring then you have either a telephone line problem or another device connected to the telephone line is the problem.

From the idle phone press PROGRAM line 1's button and dial 0 1 STORE. That puts line 1 back under the button.

Press PROGRAM or pick up the handset and set it back down to exit programming.

We have the panasonic KX-TA 824 with the 3CO x 8ext we have disa on on CO1. We are trying to route the incoming calls to CO2 & CO3 to live the main number available. How can we acomplish this.

By calling the telephone line provider or going into the web interface and using Call Forward Busy to CO2 and CO3. Normally, hunt groups are established by the telco or the "poor man's way" with CF-B.

The line must be deactivated at your telephone system programming, this is normally done by connecting a PC to it with the corresponding management software of Panasonic. You could look for the nearest Panasonic technical support service to do it.

Hi i have a panasonic KX-TES824 installed with 2 co lines and 4 extensions. I want the ringtones to be different for internal telephones (ie call between the extensions) and the CO Lines (when call comes...

A Panasonic Analog PTS ring sound is not adjustable, however, the cadence is. An outside call rings with a single ring, an internal call is either voice announce or a double ring. The digital phones from Panasonic have either 8 or 30 different tones, but that's a different system.

My panasonic phones do not ring when an incoming call is coming in. There is a dialling tone on all 3 handsets and they all appear to be working ok

Ringer turned on? quite common and I'm a phone repair man. Does the calling party hear multiple rings? If it rings only once and goes to silence on the calling party end, there is a high resistance short on the line and it must be repaired.

KXTD816 Panasonic telephone - lost phone connection

Good thing. You probably don't need to know. Try powering the system down, and power it back up. Watch the lights as it comes up.
Do you get a solid light on the lower right side of the cabinet? Now see if you can dial intercom to intercom calls. Press one of the line buttons and see if it lights up. If it does, I'd be looking for dial tone at the telco interface. Those are RJ-14 jacks (2 lines per plug).

P.S. The reset button you don't want to press is on the lower right side of the cabinet. If the switch is in the wrong place, you'll trash the memory.

I GAVE UP WITH NOT HAVING A PHONE AT HOME THAT WOULD WORK. YUP, I DID IT. I BOUGHT A NEW ONE. NOT ALL THE PROBLEMS ARE FIXED. BUT MOST ARE. AT LEAST I CAN HEAR THE CALLER AND THEY CAN HEAR ME.

I believe the problem is not the handset phone but the telephone line because the phones were working for a brief period again last night. As I said, ATT is supposed to send a repair man out today to check the lines. If the repair man says the problem is not the telephone line, I may contact you again. Thanks/
