Question about 2wire 1800HG Router (RG1800HG00)
I have a 2-wire 1800HG Gateway connected to my desktop system in the garage. I want to link via WIFI to the 2700HG-B DSL modem that my ISP provided for internet service... that one's in the house about 50 feet away. Basically I guess I need the 1800HG to function only as a "client" (?) on this home network, so I am also guessing that I only need to enter the SSID and WEP code for the 2700HG-B into the 1800HG system setup???
Again I'm only guessing. If this is not possible, my plan B is to just run a cat-5 wire between the 2 buildings and connect the remote PC to one of the ethernet jacks on the 2700 that's connected to phone company DSL service. (thank goodness I left extra pulling strings in that underground conduit last summer!!) hoping the distance is not too long (50 ft)??. Plan C is to shelve the 1800HG Gateway and just get a PCI wifi card for that garage PC.
Thanks in advance for any ideas, your advice is much appreciated
You can get into the normal control panel for the 1800hg typing "home" or 192.168.1.254 into your web-browser and http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J01&THISPAGE=J38&NEXTPAGE=J01 for the MDC (Management and Diagnostics Console) from any computer directly connected to it.

Try going onto http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J30&THISPAGE=J29&NEXTPAGE=J30 on the computer connected to the 1800hg and set the router onto bridge mode (deselect enable routing). You might be able to set the two routers to connect then from here: http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J09&THISPAGE=J30&NEXTPAGE=J09 or somewhere else in the MDC, not sure if it will work as I haven't tried it, but I hope it helps.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
