When was the last time the unit was descaled? A build up of scale will gradually restrict and then stop the water flow.

You don't answer a question with a question! Does the Keurig machines have a means to adjust the amount of water that is pre-programmed?

My Keurig B40 has three different size cup sizes available, but it dispenses the same amount of water for the medium size cup and the large cup of coffee. It's barely been used so It doesn&am

I realize you think it does not need descaling to to it 'not being used much.'
However you may have hard water and I would think descaling is definitely worth a try. There might be scale built up on the water level probes in you machine.

Descaling Details are listed below:

Brewer Model: Elite B40 ' Classic B44
Special Edition B60 ' Platinum B70

To begin, you will need the following:
• 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar
• Large ceramic mug (do not use a paper cup)
• Access to an empty sink

PREPARE
Step 1:
Empty the water in the Water Reservoir.

Step 2:
Disable "Auto Off features."

FILL AND CLEAN
Step 1:
Pour approximately 48 ounces of the vinegar into the Water Reservoir.

Step 2:
Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and run a brew cycle.

(DO NOT USE A K-CUP)

Just press the BREW Button. Pour the contents of the large mug into the sink.

Step 3:
Repeat the brew process without a K-Cup until "ADD WATER"
is indicated.

Step 4:
Now let the Brewer stand for at least 4 hours while still on.

Step 5:
Discard any residual vinegar and rinse the Water Reservoir thoroughly.

RINSE
Step 1:
Ensure the Water Reservoir is filled with fresh water.

Step 2:
Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and water brew cycle. Pour the contents of the large mug into the sink.

Step 3:
Repeat brew process until "ADD WATER is indicated.

Step 4:
You may need to perform additional water brew cycles if you notice any residual taste.

What isthe proper coffee to water ratio

Most coffee brewing sites say to use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for 6 ounces of water. Since the grind can vary, they also say to use 10 grams of coffee per 6 ounces of water. Going by weight ensures the proper ratio.

If you're making coffee for yourself, of course, the proper ratio is whatever gives you the taste you most enjoy. Start with the 10g-to-6 ounces ratio and adjust as desired. Not all roasts and beans brew exactly alike.

Don't forget to keep your coffee maker clean, and use filtered water. This can have a great effect on the coffee's taste.

We are trying to figure out how much coffee to how much water for 55 cups. Is the cup designation for an 8 ounce cup size?

This is so subjective.... NYC vs The midwest, the answer will be different. If you look closely at the coffee basket there will be an indicator that will show where the ground should be leveled to. When I made coffee in NJ we used this style and sized pot for all meetings and the "rule of thumb" was 3/4 lb for 55 cups (this was not strong enough for me. Try it at that level and adjust. If it is terribly week you can drain a pitcher of coffee then add another cup of new grounds to the basket and pour over the grounds. Good luck

How many tablespoons of ground coffee are needed per cup of water in the Smart Brew coffee maker?

For ground coffee, use 1-1/2 (one and one-half) tablespoons of beans per 6 ounces of water.

For whole bean coffee, use two tablespoons of beans per 6 ounces of water.

Coffee strength is a very personal preference, so use these numbers as a guideline for middle-of-the-road coffee, and adjust to make the coffee that you like to drink.

I have a Cuisinart SS-1C (I'm in Canada) coffee-maker. It works pretty well, however, I have noticed (and measured) that I get at least 2 fewer ounces than the number I select. For instance, I get only 2...

There is probably a disclaimer in the user guide, as there are in many coffeemaker owner's manuals, to the effect that the coffee dispensed to the cup or the carafe will always be slightly less in quantity than the amount of water added or desired due to absorption by the grounds. This is not a malfunction, however. The only real solution is to brew the next size up.

Our Keurig only dispenses a partial cup of coffee. We descaled as recommended and did the paperclip cleaning of the need,es and no improvement. When we press brew, it draws an appropriate amount of water...

Keurig coffee maker dispenses only part of a cup (about 5 ounces) after brewng one cup. Running a second clear cup (w/o K-cup) shows coffee grounds in cup of clear water. the maker will then brew a full cup of coffee. It appears that the top pin is too long and goes into the coffee after it punches through the top of the K-cup. Some of the gorunds appear to get stuck in the top pin.

Dispenses very little coffee / steam

Just program the button by holding it down until the coffee is dispensed and then let go when it is at the length you want it to be.
