1994 Volkswagen Jetta Logo
Posted on Feb 02, 2010

Hi, I just bought a wonderful 1994 Jetta. Everything works great except that the alarm light on the drivers side sill does not flash (which makes me think the bulb needs to be replaced or someone disabled it) and the cruise control will not work. How can I check if the alarm is disabled, and what could be wrong with the cruise control?

Most likely a bad connection. I have a 94 jetta and have been fighting bad connections and burned wire traces on dashboard pc board. Yours could be broken wire in the boot by the door hinge.

My 98 jetta wont start because the alarm is still armed. and i unlocked all the doors but still isnt shutting off. and the car wont start unless the alarm is disarm. how do i just take the whole alarm out....

ok so the same thing just happened with my jetta. So heres what worked for me: take off the door panel (drivers side) and you should see some melted or bunched wires together. just snip them and leave them be. It was either the wires or the sensor that messed everything up. This should work.

Changed battery and no remote control

you may need to call a dealership and ask them about it they are most familiar with their systems and can tell you how to shut it off and possibly tell you how to keep it disarmd
