Where is the ink absorber located

The ink absorber in the MP160 is located in the rear righthand corner in the base of the printer. It is a thick felt pad which gradually gets saturated with ink which is sucked from the cartridges each time you hear the whirring noise before printing. I dismantled my printer once and washed and dried the pad before putting it all back together again. If you ignore the "waste ink adsorber full" warning for too long there is a risk excess ink will leak from the base of the printer. Dismantling the printer to get at the absorber pad is a major exercise. Some newspaper placed under the printer will buy you some time and stop damage to your desktop.

End of service life error message epson inkjet printer RX700

This refers to the internal counter, actually located in the software on the computer determing that your waste ink pads are likely saturated and need replacement. You can download software from either Epson at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp or at http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.exe. Both of these software packages will allow resetting the counter. However one should either take the printer in to an authorized Epson or independent printer service company or if comfortable with messing around inside computers and peripherals, one can check the waste ink pad(s). On the RX700 there is a small access panel, on the back of the unit, on the left hand side when facing the back of the RX700. It is held in place with a Phillips head screw and small plastic latch tab on its bottom side. The pad material is clearly visible from here, with a pair of clear plastic waste ink tubes directed down into this waste ink receptacle. If this is saturated, wet and discolored, it should be replaced, before resetting the counter. Not doing so risks the excess waste ink overflowing and making a mess and possibly even shorting out some of the circuitry.

Brother MFC-290C not printing black

Hi,

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

The printer head needed cleaning so I used isopropyl alcohol the excess of which leaked onto the pads. Can I manually empty a saturated ink pad?

They are normally quite hard to get to you might have to disassemble most of the printer. Also if you do this it might be a good idea to replace the ink soakup pads with new ones if they are too saturated.

Cannot print

the waste ink container is full. The printer has a small container internally which has a piece of sponge in it. When the printer goes through a cleaning cycle, the ink used to clean the print heads is discarded into here. When the sponge gets saturated, the printer stops.. Most can be removed through a hatch on the base of the printer and can then be cleaned with warm water but be warned, the sponge will drip everywhere !! Dry the sponge and refit, then turn the printer back on..

What does Waste ink near full mean

When the printer cleans the print heads it draws ink and disposes it to a foam collector in the base of the printer. Frequent cleaning via software causes this to to become saturated. To my knowledge it cannot be emptied or replaced easily and it is essentially the end of the printers life when full because the excess ink has nowhere to go and cakes on the print head. You can confirm with Canon or check the manual for replacement instructions.

I have an epson photh R300. The ink and paper light blinks. i put all new ink in it and it says "printer parts at end of service life." It won't move or do anything after that all I can do is...

the printer's counter shuts the printer down after "x" number of prints, since the ink-pad is typically saturated with excess ink at that point. You won't have to take it to get serviced if you simply blot the excess ink from the ink-pads and reset ther counter. To reset the counter, download this program and install.

http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html or http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml remember to blot excess ink off the ink-pad, and then follow the instructions to reset the counter. Good luck!!! JohnsGroovyWebsite.com

X73 found loose spring

I was having a similar problem. After finding the service manual (4402_X73.pdf) and taking the thing apart, an ink-covered broken spring fell from the inside. I checked around the 'Maintenance Station' and found the other half still hanging. Apparently -because I haven't got a replacement yet to confirm- the spring goes across the bottom of the 'Maintenance Station' to a lever on the other side. If someone can tell me where to post a picture of the thing, I'll gladly do it.
