Motor sounds like its running, but the blades

I nicked the blade with a spatula while pushing some veggies and the motor stopped. Now, the motor sounds like its running, but the blades don't turn.

It sounds like a gear might of broken either under the blender jug or in the unit itself. Best bet is seek out an appliance repair shop locally.

Why don't you just clean it?
Very carefully use a soap pad, and then dry thoroughly. remember to dry thoroughly after every use, and wipe a little veggie oil on the blades with a paper towel.

My ninja blender motor starts but the blades don't turn

As stated earlier it could be the shaft needs lubing, remove the bottom part of the blender blade... the rubber thing that engages on the motor. I started with WD-40 and worked some lithium grease into it. Spins like new now.

The blade has become VERY tight and will hardly turn. When I turn on the blender the motor strains to get it turning, and when it does it makes a horrible sound. I've stopped using it because I don't...

put a socket or a wrench on the nut in the middle of the blades, and hold the other set with a set of pliers, and, as the original poster said, it is reverse threaded.

The blades stopped turning in the middle of blending a batch of hummus Its is a Kitchen Aid blender about 10 years old

Does the motor still work if you take the pitcher off of the base? If so, the rod that's in the blade assembly is probably corroded. The blades are connected to a metal rod that passes through a brass tube through to the piece that makes contact with the motor when you put the pitcher on the base. The grease wears down eventually and if you don't pulse and run the motor for a long time at once, the heat can corrode the bar and cause the blade to stop spinning. You can either disassemble the blade unit, or buy a new blade unit online. google blender parts and you can get one for $10

Motor runs but the blade does not spin

The shaft has probably siezed at the bottom near the blade. The seal can fail and let liquid inside the shaft and gunge it up.
Take the orange handle apart, then unscrew the four steel pins, then pull out the motor. From the blade end, take the screw from the blade and prize it off. Then pull the shaft out from the top and clean it. It may be stuck - push a blunt nail or similar in the bottom to free it. Then reassemble carefully

When trying to blend things like frozen fruit or frozen yogurt with the Vitamix, the blade stops moving, but the motor continues running. Even if there's only enough frozen yogurt to cover the blades, it...

Frozen elements are generally not recommended for blenders of any brand. They may cause the blade assembly to stop moving completely, or to "bog down," and this may eventually damage the motor. It is recommended that frozen fruits and/or yogurt be thawed when possible before placing into a blender. If this is not a possibility for you, I would use a "pulse" or "chop ice" function to rapidly spin the blades for just a moment. This will chop the contents in smaller, more manageable parts. This should be done before adding other liquid ingredients.

Drive gear is slipping. Motor turns but the blade fails to turn

sounds like a shear pin either on the motor or the blade assembly. If you put the blender on low without the cannister on top touch the gear on top of the unit and see if the gear slips or stops. Use a pencil or something..Not your finger. If it stoops then the pin is broken at the motor. If not, it is broken at the blade unit.

Hope this helps
