Sounds like a bad connection on the inside of the power cord socket on the back of the monitor. If you feel confident enough to take the back off just remove the power cord, remove the back and then wiggle the pins inside the socket 1 at a time and look in the back of the socket at the same time to see if the wires are loose on the pins, or if the wires from the pins are loose on the circuit board. May just need resoldering. If you can find out what it is it could save you money getting it repaired, unless you can do it yourself.

Your computer screen or monitor may have wiggling images when it is too close to electronic interference, such as a power supply, cell phone, non-shielded speakers, a fan or electric motor.

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Good luck.

No video no image on screen

Try substituting a different monitor so you can tell if the problem is located in your computer video or if the problem is the monitor itself.
Also try hooking up the monitor to a different computer to see if it works.
Finally, check to make sure you are using the correct input ports on both computer and monitor and that they power plug to the monitor has not wiggled loose so as not to power the monitor.

It seems like im having some issue with my syncmaster2493 monitor. it will black out and once i wiggle the power cord it will come back on. any help will be apprecaited

Hello,

Your power supply board is failing and when you wiggle the cord it is turning it on and off until it finally starts up. There are parts called capacitors that start failing and it will cause intermittent power issues such as slow to show picture, flashing power button, wavy or flashing picture. The board can be repaired and the monitor will be as good as new. Here is a picture of the power supply with the parts circled that need to be replaced.

Power to Screen but does not come on. Wiggling

It sounds like there is a cold socket on the internal power input of your monitor. Have a repair technician take a look at it. It should be relativley cheap fix if that is the case.

LG Flatron L1710S Monitor stuck in Power Save Mode

Try wiggling the Cord on the backside of the monitor.. Not the Power Plug Cord, The Other Cord that attaches to the PC. Do this once the monitor turns off , grab ahold of the cord about 2 inches from the back of the monitor, then bend the cord to the right, keep bending from the right to the left a couple times to see if your screen comes back, if it does, than you have a Loose connection and this sometimes causes the Symptoms you are receiving.. Hope it helps.

Before you give up on this monitor I would try some troubleshooting first. The clicking noise you hear is probably the monitor power going on and off: -Make sure you plug your monitor directly into a working wall socket. I?ve had lots of power problems caused by a cracked wall socket or a bad power strip. -Try turning the monitor on and off using the power switch, does it work correctly? If not you could simply have a defective switch and an inexpensive fix. -Wiggle the power cord where it connects to the monitor and the wall socket. The monitor socket or the cable may have a problem. - Connect the monitor to another computer to see if the problem follows the monitor. If it does then you likely have a bad component in the monitor, odds are it?s the power supply. To the question of is it worth fixing, probably not. I suspect you can pickup good used 19? CRT monitors at your local computer store for around $50 and they typically have warranties. A repair job is going to cost at least $50 and my experience has been that monitor repairs don?t last very long. This might even be a good excuse to get that LCD monitor you?ve been looking at. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this posting.
