Question about Audio Players & Recorders
There is no dead key on SSB---the radio when you speak into the microphone modulates the radio to whatever maximum output this radio has been set to on SSB.
Most of these radios--2000,148, etc will on SSB modulate to 12-20 watts depending on how the radio has been tuned.
The +3 microphone should work but is not the Loudest microphone for this radio---on sideband it is all determined by the audio output of the microphone--what happens in some of these very old Turners is the element decays and does not produce enough audio.
If another microphone works better the element in the Turner may be damaged or weak.
Let me know if you have questions--I have own several of the 2000's and many other base station radios including the Browning Golden Eagles.
