The problem is not with the temp control but more with either the evap fan in the freezer section or a heavy frost build up on the back wall toward the bottom section of the freezer. If you have more frost than usual more than likely the defrost t-stat has gone bad which is not a costly repair. The fan you should be able to hear also with the freezer door open. If you do not hear it the fan has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps

My fridgedaire fridge FRT856embg wont get cold on the bottom

Im not familure with this item but on the older style fridge ice would build up in the freezer blocking the air ways to the bottom half of the fridge in this case you would need to remove the food from the freezer and fridge and unplug it open the doors and let it thaw out for a day or so I wish you luck and I hope this was helpful

Fridge is not keeping the food cold, water at the bottom of fridge, freezer is not as cold, still freezes things but takes a long time. This is a Kenmore 20 fridge, my guess is 15 years old.

unplug the fridge and leave the doors open for 48 hours, then see if your problem is gone 24 hours later after you plug it back in, if it is, your fridge needs to have a repair to the defrost side of things, most likely the defrost termination therm or the defrost timer, also make sure the drain under the evaporator is not plugged up

Water filter inside fresh food compartment keeps freezing up? Frigidaire brand 3-4 years old. Thanks, Steve.

hello,
Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze
Check the cold control, and also the air deflector. As you know, the deflector directs the freezer air toward the front of the frig and the rear of the cold control.

Hope this helpout....

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

Upper freezer is working but the temperature in the fridge part is approx. 65 degrees -- not cold.

This is a malfunction of the control board. The control board is telling the refridge side that it is plenty cold - so it doesn't divert the cold air needed to keep the refridge side cool enough. Check to see the the coils in the freezer are frozen - if they are, unplug the unit and defrost with a hair dryer. Dry up the water and turn it back on - that should solve your problem.

Fan running but neither refrig or freezer is getting cold.

Your refrigerator may be stuck in defrost cycle. I know it has a defrost timer part number 215846602 Most times they are located inside the fresh food compartment behind the control panel. Sometimes below fridge and behind kick plate. The thermostat could be defective also. You can check that by unplugging the refrigerator remove cover and checking continuity between the two male connections located on the rear side of thermostat control turned as cold as you can turn it. Or you can join the two wires together and plug refrigerator back in to see if compressor comes on. When you find the defrost time turn clockwise slowly until the refrigerator starts. If these don't work let me know and we will do some more test. Sea Breeze

My refridge and freezer would stop working

there is a saftey overload switch on the compressor when the compressor is over heating it cuts out. when the fridge is turned off it resets the switch. So now the compressor has burned out totally. you more and likely need a new compressor

Have a 2 year old SAMSUNG RS2545SH Side by Side

Control board has gone bad....

What happens is the defrost is controlled electronically from a circuit board, when this goes bad, the freezer quits defrosting, and freezes the fans that circulate air through the fridge side of things.

To check this, unplug the entire fridge, leave the freezer open, wait for it to defrost a bit, if this causes the fridge to start cooling again when you plug it back in, then its the defrost. You should also see ice crystals on the back of the freezer just under the icemaker.
