Usually this wire has a signal on it that is "Shorted" to earth when it is to "Disable" the device when stopped. This can be remedied by fitting a switch to Earth. Just to confuse things some are the "Opposite" IE: there is NO voltage on the wire & it get "Pulled up" to 12V. you MUST check which one it is with a meter.

Cant play dvd says parking brake on screen

you can not play dvd's when the car is not in park with the e brake on. I"m assuming it was factory installed or by a dealership??? they hook a line from it to your brake sensor. it's illegal to watch movies while you're driving. so long as theyre behind your seat and out of your view theyre legal, otherwise they hook it to your brakes.

You need to make sure the parking brake lead is hooked up from the radio to the parking brake, and that the parking brake is engaged.

Hellow. I got a Naxa ncd 688 and a friend connected the stereo, I had a problem because i can,t watch videos or DVD, and I saw something in the manual about the parking switch. Please Help.

I have a Naxa NCD-694, and I heard about similar problems. Apparently when you ground it like it tells you (the green long wire) to the parking brake, the video screen is set to disengage automatically! ((Naxa says if you dont hook up to your parking brake, your video screen might not play)) However after trying the following work-around myself, I found a few other people who had gotten around this safety feature with no consequence (other then distraction!) I guess NAXA just claims that, so they wont get sued if you crash while watching dvds in your car! *Its really simple! Just unhook the long (at least a foot or so) green wire (It should be labled "ground-Parking Brake" on it too) you previously attatched to your parking brake wire, and then ground it somewhere else! I just hooked it up to my black ground also coming out of the back of my naxa. (If you want to verify this b4 you unhook your deck, go in your car now, and lift your parking brake, and pop in a DVD! I bet itll play!) The wire will turn off the screen whenever the parking brake isn't engaged(or not grounded) So by grounding it to something permanent (in this case the black ground wire), your unit will never recieve the signal saying to turn off the screen!
Hope this helps!

How do I disable the parking brake safety feature on a jensen VM8113 car dvd player?

I have this exact same unit, here's what you do:

1) Cut the little weird "do-hickey" off the end of the pink wire so that the wire looks like all the other wires.

2) Strip some of the coating from around the tip of the wire (so the wire is exposed).

3) Ground that wire to the unit itself under one of the clips or something (as long as its metal).

4) Pop a dvd in and it will play irregardless of the parking brake position.

5) This definitely works, however, I'm assuming this is so your family can watch and not you, right?

My jensen in dash dvd player keep asking for parking brake sequence

there's a wire from the dvd player that is supposed to be hooked up to your parking brake switch to keep you from viewing during driving. i have a pioneer unit and i ran the parking brake wire to a switch and ran another wire from the switch to ground. then when it asks for the parking brake sequence, (with my unit) i flip the switch from off to on then off then back on. this makes the dvd player think that you've applied, let go of, then applied the parking brake.

Ddx512 Kenwood Parking off problem

Indash DVD units are programmed not to allow DVD's to play while the car is in motion. The unit only allows DVD viewing when the car is parked and the parking brake activated.

To get around this, you simply splice the parking break wire from the radio to the -NEG wire of the radio.

If this doesnt help let me know.

Car in dash cd/dvd player

Most in car dvd players require a connection to the parking brake so it will not play a dvd while you are driving (in dash only). The easiest way around it is to run a 12v wire to the lead of the parking brake wire on the dvd player. With a constant 12v it should play when the ignition is in the on position.
