Question about Cameras

2 Answers

My olympus fe360 will start downloading my picutes to my notebook but then says, camera not connected. It works on my work computer. Can someone tell me why? I had camera checked and it works fine but it is as if my notebook computer is recognizing and then kicks it out or something. Not sure if computer or camera question.

I have more than one port and can plug it into any and it does the same thing. The fact that it does connect and starts to copy my pictures makes me know it is recognizing the camera but kicks out after a few pics.

My digital camera wont download to my notebook computer. I plug it in and my program choices pop up and my pics start to copy and then it stops and says the camera is not connected and stops. I have tried to plug into a different port and it does the same thing. It works on my work computer.

this is the first thing that makes sense. Can you tell me what kind of thing may be blocking it? Is it something that I could try to remove to see if that is it?

    Thanks

To avoid this ..you can just download directly from the memory card using a card reader ...(most laptops these days has one already ) ..this way you get arround the cable connection ...In what regards the fact that the connection is interrupted this is something to do with the protection on the computer ...If the camera behave perfect in another computer this is not a camera issu e..probably it is from the antivirus..or the firewall..or ...just need to change the port in which you connected cause if you get into a 1.0 usb port ...and it is too slow..it may get into error...for this kinda jobs better use a 2.0 usb port ...(faster ) ..and also ...get fewer picks at the time ...just get them in packages of 10 -15 ..this way you avoid being stuck on loop...
But my first choise will be the card reader...it will see it as a removable device in my computer folder..and just open it...(it does it auto by auto-play) and copy the pictures..

I would suspect the USB port, especially as the unit works on another
PC without problem

Use a multi USB connector on this port and connect both the camera and another item to see if both items lose contact
This will pin it to the laptop rather than the camera

Thanks for using FIXYA

How to upload photos from my olympus mini s camera

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Can't upload pictures from my camera to pc

Sounds like the PC doesn't have the correct driver to find the Olympus.
Do you still have the CD that came with the camera ? this will have to be installed.
Once installed , connect you camera via the mini USB (or firewire) , turn on and then open the Photo application.
If you don't have the CD/ROM then do a Google search for Olympus FE360 and down load the driver from their website.
Good luck -- Ray

I have a window7 notebook i want to download photos from my olympus fe where do i start

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

could be a couple things.
first: your memory card most likely has a slide switch just switch that back to the unlock mode
second:

second: from olympus guy
put the camera into play back mode. This is where you can see your picuters on the camera. Then go into the menu and try to go to card setup. This is 3rd tab. So hit ok hit right for mode menu. then hit down to you see card setup. Then hit right arrow 2 times and you will see formatt. Then go to yes and it will say caution somthing. and hit ok

Now if you have picuters on the card this will delete them so if you care about them you might want to think about data recovery. But if not try this and let me know.

"""I don't use the camedia software to download pics from the camera, neither do I use Xp's picture and scanner wizard. I simply plug my cam to the usb port and xp detects it as a USB mass storage device. I then copy the pics from the removable device displayed on My Computer window. Would you say that this method is not safe?""""

This is best way to do it i think. If you dont want to go into Cameida. The xp scanner camera wizard works good most time i dont know why it messes up some camera cards and its really random. One thing i would say. Formatt the card everytime you download your picuters. Not in the computer by right clicking on the driver, NEVER DO THIS!! will blow your card basicly. Do not delete pictuers from you computer with camera pluged it. Basicly most cameras us a diffrent file system the your computer. So that can start to mess things up. Just put the card into camera and do a format.

hope that helps.
