Question about Epson Stylus Photo R2400 InkJet Printer

2 Answers

I replaced my Epson R2400 printer with a like new one. I installed the previous CIS into this new printer. Shortly after the black tank leaked. I notified the supplier about the problem. He replaced the system for a small charge. Everything went well while I was drawing ink from the tanks into the cartridges except for the last on. I couldn't draw ink into the yellow cartridge. I picked up the tanks to look underneath but nothing. I did notice the yell ink was flowing into the cartridge. Unfortunately it was flowing right out of the cartridge. Now I have a big mess. Ink all over the printer. While the printer was apart, I installed the waste ink system. Everything is back together .I turn the printer on and it goes through the normal cycle. When I want to print however, it goes through all the motions but nothing prints on the paper. Ink is being dumped in the waste ink system so the jets must be okay. Help!

I'd appreciate a second opinion. This is a like new printer and I'm not about to throw it out.

I ran the cleaning cycle six times. I also ran the head alignment cycle. Still no ink is printing on the paper. Is there a printed circuit board that needs to be cleaned? How would I get to it?
The cleaning cycle does go through ink!

Insert new catridge and check the same. If you still facing the problem, Need to check with local expert engineers or Service center experts as some problem with your circuit board.

I suggest to get it back to the supplier..and see that it will change the cartridges and all ..cause the only way that it will not print is cause it has no ink flowing in the right way ..it is probably dumping it directly to he waste ...so ...this means they are damaged ..and it will never work right ..Im only wondering why you didnt do this from the first time it made problems...
Im sorry to give you bad news ..but there is nothing you can do ..it is a mechanical problem ..a physical one ...

Epson R2400 does not display all the paper types available, currently only a small number. Why is this please?

It depends on which Black cartridge you have installed. For Glossy Photo papers the Photo Black (PK) needs to be in the printer. For all other papers to appear then you need to change it to the Matt Black (MK) cartridge.

Check that your printer head is not jammed or move freely.
For that put oil in head carrier .
Also clean dust from head contact with carrier .
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

Hi, I have solved the problem by taking the R2400 to a Epson agency to have the heads cleaned and the leaked black ink cleaned up.

How to change waste pads on Epson R2400?

The R2400 is quite an expensive printer and changing the pads would likely knock the printhead out of gross alignment so if you really must change the pads then I'd recommend getting it done at a service center (much as it pains me to suggest it).

The only time it's really essential to get the pads changed though is if you do a lot of borderless printing as this dumps ink straight to the pads and bypasses the popular external waste ink tank modification.

My recommendation would be to consider getting the printer serviced this once and then immediately install an external waste ink system to your printer and use the SSC or A10-IPR utility from Epson to reset the waste ink counter from there on in.

All the info you need is available via this link

Hope that helps, even if it is a little late..

Epson 2400 paper red light and ink red light

It sounds like your printer has reached what is often called the "service required" stage...

To solve this you need to handle two things.

1. Get the printer protection counter (or waste-ink as it's sometimes called) reset.

2. Replace the waste ink pads OR redirect your waste ink flow to an external tank

It's important to note that Epson will encourage you to do a waste pad replacement through one of their service centers, but if you're out of warranty this will cost a significant amount of money (approx: $100 - 200)

To solve these as a DIY you can do the following:

1. Resetting the counter...
Get a resetter, either the SSC utility (google: epson SSC utility) or the IPR utility that Epson have now made available via their website here

The latter is only available to North American printer owners so the SSC is a safer bet.

2. Redirecting waste ink to an external container.
This is something I'd heartily recommend instead of trying to change the waste pads yourself... It's simple enough to do and a little googling using keywords "Epson R2400 waste ink tank" should get you all the info you need.

There are simple kits available that offer everything you need or you can easily go for a DIY with bits you have to hand.

Hope that helps...

Epson stylus k3 r2400

Hi Lisa
The R2400 has the choice of two black inks, MK and PK. One is for Matt printing, the other (called photo black) is for gloss.
If the printer has the matt cartridge fitted it only allows suitable options, including paper choice, to be selected. If you change the black cartridge from the MK to the PK one, you should then have the choice of gloss paper.
