How do I check for balance issues? I remember something about a button on the bottom of the tub. Do I push that?

  • kfishnrod Feb 19, 2008

I pushed the button and moved the machine around and it's spinning now. Thanks!

Balancing issues are obvious ones here...or there may be a connection issue to motor..check those first..

the balancing is in the mechanical feet at bottom of housing..

that moving around most likely balanced it..use one of those carpenters levels, and that will help you get a sense of what's needed.

I have a hotpoint whirlpool washer I cleaned out the filter as it would not empty now it won't spin

Error codes? may say bad board/replace board, but don\'t. Try to refrain. The likely cause is the wax switch on the door lock mechanism. I am not a proponent of replacing a pcb because the error code says to. After all, resistors and like components are only 0.5 cents. My washer just had a similar problem, it was a $19.95 wax switch. It has a plungher wwhich pushes a set of contacts together, sends a signal to the board telling it that the door is locked and it is safe to spin. Its true. Redundant but true. I am sure it was designed with the service industry in mind. $125.00 for the service call ( just to show up), then order the board and secretly install the $19.95 part, likely get it for $4.00 and laughs all the way to the bank. Mostly I find service guys are friendly enough, but if they sense a mechanical deficciency in the customer, they take advantage

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washers No Spin Problem

A class suit was filed in the State of Illinois, USA and then later on won against Maytag in 2004 due to the high failure rate of the wax motor used in the door lock mechanism of their Neptune Front Load Washers. The wax motor is used to activate the door lock switch by extending its shaft when a voltage from the machine control is applied across its terminals. Its failure then leads to the breaking down of components in the expensive machine control board. This is the fact that angered the customers which led to the filing of the class suit.

The obvious symptom of a failed wax motor is the inability of the washer to advance to the spin cycle and the door lock lamp is not turned on. The washer stops momentarily at the end of the wash cycle then continue to tumble as the machine control checks the activation of the door lock switch. The control will not allow a spin speed higher than 51 revolutions per minute (RPM) unless the door lock switch is activated by the wax motor. It is a safety feature of the washer to prevent accident due to accidental opening of the washer door during a high speed spin.

Customers who purchased the Neptune Front Load Washers in the USA after April 1, 1997 and before August 9, 2004 are Class members and eligible for the repair reimbursement, replacement cost, or purchase certificate depending on the length of service of the machine. Call up Maytag at 1-888-MAYTAG (1-888-629824) for more information.

The models included in the class suit are as follows: MLE2000AYW, MLE2000AWW, MLE2000AZW, MLG2000AWW (Gas Stack Unit), MAH3000AAW, MAH3000AEW, MAH3000AGW, MAH3000AWA, MAH3000AWW, MAH3000BGW, MAH4000AWW, MAH4000BWW, MAH4000AWQ, MAH4000BWQ, MAH5500AWW, MAH5500BWW, MAH5500BWW, MAH5500BWQ, MAH55FLBWW, MAH55FLBWQ, MAH6500AWW, MAH6500AWQ, MAH7500AWW, MAH7500AWQ, MAH7550AAW, MAH7550AGW.

Neptune Washing Machine (MLE200AWW) spins but water is not pumped all the way out. I can hear it slosh in the drum if I spin the drum manually.

Hi, the sloshing sound is normal because of the balance ring which has liquid in it...

I would be concerned about your door latch wax motor ( part # 12002535) though... See Neptune Help for more information about replacing the faulty wax motor with brown colored actuator tip before it damages your machine control board. When the wax motor shorts out it will blow the Q6 triac and then the R11 resistor will burn and your door probably won't lock anymore as indicated by the door locked light not coming on. The next thing you will notice is that your clothes will be soaking wet after the wash cycle because the spin cycle will not work if the door does not lock...

Your machine control board is located above the dryer on the right side.

Every Maytag Neptune front loader with a timer knob (non digital) has a wax motor and all of them shipped with faulty one except the later 2000 series stacker models. You should proactively replace the wax motor with the new design (with black tip) to prevent the Q6 R11 failure on the control board. If you're too late you can try the STAGE 1 repair kit at the same site above.

To inspect your door latch wax motor on the stackers you:

? Unplug machine

? Remove the (2) screws holding center panel and remove panel

? Remove the (1) center screw holding the top panel located inside compartment above washer

? Remove the top panel to expose the door latch assembly

I hope this helps you.

My washer wont do the spin cycle. everything else work fine but no spin

Hi,
The reason the washer won’t spin is due to the either of the latches on the door.
This model uses a two stage lock that latches the door when the load starts, and then when it is time to spin, the second lock engages to ensure the door is properly secured prior to beginning the spin. When this second lock engages, it also closes a set of switch contacts (the auxiliary door switch) telling the control board the door is closed and locked. If for some reason this switch is not closed, the washer will tumble during what would normally be the spin cycle until the entire cycle is complete.
On the entire Frigidaire ATFxxxxxxx line of front load washers, if the secondary door lock fails, the unit will not spin. If you suspect this is the reason your washer is not spinning, do a check of the error log and you will find an E47 error has been logged. This error indicates the control board thinks the wax motor has failed because the auxiliary switch never closed. The customer will not see this error in the display, but it will be stored in memory. A quick resistance check of the wax motor will tell you if it has failed. Expect 1K to 1.5K of resistance from most of the wax motor heaters.

After finding the E47 error stored in memory, I would request you that the switch be removed from the outer door seal spring so you could pull the switch out the front. A quick resistance check showed the wax motor was open electrically so it was no longer working. Install a new switch assembly
, reattached all the wires along with the door seal. And now the washer will wash and spin.

Thank You for using Fixya.com

I have a Neptune front loader that now spins slow on the final spin. Pushing max extract doesn't help. I need help - -wet sheets

does the door lock? if the answer is no then you have a blown resister on your main control board R11 and the reason it blew is your wax motor on your door lock is binding up. you need a new control board and wax motor.

Won't spin

hi..
What happens is the machine will stop spinning because the door latch will fail to lock. Deep inside it is caused by the mechanism that locks the door. The wax motor will draw too much current and damage the control board by burning a resistor (R11)

just pull the board u can discover burn thru on r11 (you can see the blackened resistor). orders and new board & wax motor on ebay. open the washer & replace the board & wax motor..
thank u

Wont go into final spin

The final spin on this model requires an additional lock from the computer to the door. Remove upper rear panel and look at board. Find the tiny resistor that says R-11. If it's burnt looking the board and the wax motor (at the lock) need replaced

WHIRPOOL FRONT LOADER WASHER NOT SPINNING

Not pumping out the water - if the washer cannot pump out the water, the washer will not be able to spin...check the pump for not pumping.
Door not locking - if the door will not lock, the washer will not enter a spin mode. See if the lock light is lite on the consol.
Broken wires at one of the out off balance switches or a bad switch itself.
A fairly common trouble maker has been a burnt diode on the main control board. See diode R11.
f this has happened to your main control board ( in the consol ) , the wax motor in the door lock assembly is drawing too much hydro and must be replacing at the same time as the control board. The wax motor can check, appear and test ok but will fail when working throughout the cycle.
