The F1 code means : Electronic oven control failure. Solution: Replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock).
316207527 - CLOCK
316220805 - OVERLAY
expect to pay between $155 to $199 for the control plus labor, etc unless your attempting this yourself.
We replace the overlay along with the control as it usually does not peal off without a fight and tears.
best of luck, and have fun,
ttfn

Hi, I have the Jenn Air model SVE47100 and it seems I have a short. My oven is turned off by means of turning off only through the electrical panel. I can not seem to turn it off. If it gets electricity,...

Sounds like the broil relay on your ERC (electronic range control) / clock is stuck. Until it's replaced the only way to keep it off would be to cut power to the range.

Oven won't unlock

You sound like you have a temp sensor error. Without knowing your exact model I'd say that you can open the door with a coat hangar , the latch is at the top in the center it is locked to the right (facing the front of the door), and it is spring loaded

Remove the temp sensor and take a ohm reading.
Appliance Tip of the Day: Oven Temperature Sensors Demystified grasshopper%202.gif Everyone knows what thermostats do: turn something on and off based on temperature. If your range has an electronic range control (ERC) board with the digital LED display, it doesn't have a thermostat. You know what I'm talking about, most ERCs look something like this.
tn_tempsensors.jpgRanges with ERCs use a sensor to "feel" the temperature in the oven cavity and sends that information to the ERC. The ERC then makes decisions about about heating the oven and controls the burner (in gas ovens) or heating elements (in electric ovens). Typical styles of range temperature sensors are shown
Inevitably, your range will one day start acting goofy and you'll need to check the oven sensor to see if it's causing a problem. On most ranges, a big clue that the sensor is the problem is if you're getting an F1 error code in your ERC display. So how do you check the sensor? Keep reading.
Oven sensors sense the temperature is the oven cavity by increasing their internal resistance, measured in ohms as the oven's temperature increases. This change in ohm resistance tells the ERC the oven cavity temperature and it turns the heating elements or burner on and off, as needed. Now, hang with me, grasshopper, 'cuz we're getting to the good part.
At room temperature, 70°F, the resistance of the most common sensors used today is 1000-1100 ohms. What this means is that if you pull those sensor wires to measure the sensor's resistance and it reads slap-a$$ open, why, it don't take a rocket scientist like myself to figger out that you got yourself a bad sensor! Wasn't that easy?
Just for grins, I've included the table below to show you the sensor resistance reading at various temperatures. Viva la resistance!
Oven Sensor Resistances Temperature (°F) Resistance (ohms) 100 1143 200 1350 300 1553 350 1654 400 1753 500 1949

Getting an F1 error. Oven shuts off F1 will not stop beeping

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

My oven when turned on goes to F1 and the heat is like broil...only the top burner comes on????

Hello,Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacement of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal check sum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kill power 30 seconds - if error returns - replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Thanks

F1 error code and constant beeping and oven shuts off.

Hi gwhiz03,

If you are having error code F1 with your Jenn-Air double wall oven this is because you have a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Hope this helps.

E1-F1 error on Kenmore Range

A persistant F1 error code usually means that the oven has exceeded the safe maximum operating temperature for the oven.

This is usually due to a faulty oven thermostat unit.

If the error code reappears after using the oven you should get the thermostat replaced.

When the oven is turned on to preheat, the buzzer goes off and an "F1" error message is displayed and the oven turns off. The model # is MGR5750ADW. Is there something we can do to fix it?

An "F1" error code means you have a defective clock assembly (also called ERC- electronic range control). You will need to replace the clock assembly, and they are not cheap, around $200. Hope this helps you, good luck.
