The light should come on steady. Your monitor most likely has the typical failed capacitor problem. The Power Supply board in the monitor most likely has some capacitors that have failed, visible signs include swelling of the ends of the parts, but they can fail without showing any visible sgns. Replacement of the capacitors often restores operation.

My AL1716 monitor does not power up on start-up. The green power light flashes, but no action otherwise. However, if left alone for a while it eventually comes to life. Is this a power supply failure,...

The flashing green light with no display is a good sign that the backlight power supply is failing. Since it comes back on after a while, seems to me to indicate that it's a part that is out of tolerance and as the power supply tries to recover, starts to work. Probally it a capacitor that is going bad. Don't think the move would cause a problem. You could fix it by replacing the capacitors for less than $20. There is seller on ebay that just sells replacement capacitors for LCD monitors if you want to fix yourself, otherwise spring for a new one.

Monitor problem

The power light is flashing green can indicate start/restart of the power supply due to shorts circuits or failing power supply due to bad caps, look for bad caps with bulging top first, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Acer AL1715 power issues

I have an ACER AL 1706 monitor that would not power up completely. After pushing the power button, only the yellow light would stay on indication a power up fault. After careful inspection of the power boards caps, there was visible swelling of the 47mF and 22mF radial caps on the top part of the caps where the tiny cannisters 4 edges are folded down flat. I replaced these caps( 6 on my board) because there is reaaly no way to actually test them and bought new ones from Radio Shack. Now my Acer monitor came back to life with no other problems. I recommened using replacement caps with same microfarad values, but if the voltage rating is not exact, it is o.k. to get the next higher voltage rated caps available and should work fine.

Acer AL 1715 monitor flashes 2x and dies

LCD panels use cold-cathode fluorescent bulbs to make the light necessary for them to show images. What you're describing is something I've seen in panels where the bulbs were dying or dead. it's also possible that the controller for the bulbs is also on the fritz.

Monitor turns off

Since the green light is going out the monitor's power supply could be the culprit. That popping sound is not good. I would replace the monitor all together.

Acer al1711

Hi.  I have no experience with an AL1711 but this sounds very much like the power supply problem that affects the AL1715.

If you understand electronics then you need to check the power supply for faulty components (there were two faulty capacitors in my AL1715).  Replacements should cost about 10p each and however much time it takes.

Unfortunately if you're not into electronics then there's really not much you can do.

If you do take the back off then please post whether you can see any faulty components.

Monitor repeatedly flashes Acer logo and computer display in cycles

We had the same problem with the 17" we bought in Aug. Sent it back for repair. Acer sent it back without fixing the problem. Started doing it again in Nov. This time I called a supervisor and they sent me a new monitor. Well yesterday it started doing the same thing. You can fix it temp buy unplugging it and holding down the on-off switch for 30 seconds. Please let me know if you have a better fix.
