The temperture sensor is at fault. It shuts down before the temperture is hot enough

I want to know how hot my dryer gets. I do not have temp. controls on my model

Good Morning Tabitha,

I see that you are looking to see how hot your Frigidaire dryer, model# FER311FS, actually gets, due to you not having temperature controls on your particular model. Being that you have just the timed dry cycle, it provides up to 100 minutes of drying time at high heat for regular and permanent press items. When drying permanent press items, turn the cycle selector to 40-50 minutes. This is the average time needed to dry most loads of permanent press items. The load tumbles without heat during the last 10 minutes of the Timed Dry cycle. Use this setting to refresh clothing, pillows or blankets or to dust draperies. Heat-sensitive items such as plastics, foam rubber or similarly textured rubber-like materials or items containing feathers or down should be dried only with this setting. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Kenmore dryer 110.86864100 - Where is the moisture sensor?

Ain't no moisture sensor. This is is not an electronic sensing machine. It uses another method to determine dryness. An orange wire connects to the base of the heating element. The timer motor is driven by power from it in auto dry. The timer motor is VERY slow. Slower than most dryer timer motors. As the clothes get dryer the heat is not needed so the element is turned off by the control thermostat which is mounted next to the skinny white fuse on the blower housing. This allows for the turtle like motor on the timer to advance. Once the clothes get to the point of dryness the heater stays off way longer and the timer motor advances on over to the cool down and carry on over to the end of cycle. So the clothes won't always be dry due to factors like lint buildup in the blower housing, venting to outside and so forth. having said that my mom bought a brand new Kenmore dryer and I set it on 55 minutes timed drying. At the end of that them clothes is still damp. I then set it to auto dry high heat and that usually gets em dry. I think the main probo with this dryer is the thermostat ain't set as high as older models to keep the heat at a moderate temp so that the limits won't blow on models in apts and such. Just a theory.

it means auto dry it will check the temp of the clothes so if they dryer quicker then 40-45 minutes it will shut off earlier instead of running the full 40-45 minutes. In the manual it says AD is the adjusting time according to moisture level for those who keep drying but display this it is normal for those who display and size to dry is not normal if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick

We have a WHIRLPOOL dryer model # KGYE670BWH3 and the problem is that when switching from a high to low temperature it stays high at hot rather then low temperature. but then after awhile it will go low.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Lets talk about the physics of changing drying temps mid cycle. The dryer has built up an average temperature that is high when you had high selected. The clothes are hot. The drum is hot and the chassis / ducting is also hot. It can take almost 10 minutes for that residual heat to be removed before you notice that the drying temp has changed.

Having said that, there are a few things to check as to why it is taking an extended period to dry your clothes and why the dryer seems to be running hot.

1. Check the outside dryer vent flapper for lint build up.

2. Check the ducting for lint fromt he dryer exit to the outside vent flapper.

3. Remove the lint filter and look for lint build up around the lint filter ducting. (if it needs cleand do NOT use anything sharp to remove the lint.) A vacuume crevice tool and an old coat hanger folded in half works great.

After checking all of the above and making sure they are ALL clean, try your mid cycle change again an see if it takes less time to notice a difference.

If it is still taking a long time there may be a problem with the temp selector switch.

That is it for now.

Thanks for using FixYa.

You should change it back to regular gas the problem is in pressure reg gas come to your home at much greater pressure then propane that's why it takes longer to dry the other thing is to keep your lint trap clean because it can affect drying once in while blow out lint hose as well

Lg dryer not drying

Do not keep it higher temp unless bedsheets are inside. For normal clothes temp must be at normal level. If more steam remains inside then only clothes will remain damp.Look out for correct RPM.This problem comes due to drive belt also. Even it looks tight just replace blindly.Hope this will solve your problem. All the best to you.
