You need to install sound drivers. Look up your model and then search for drivers. You can find them on you models website.
Once installed, restart your computer and check in device manger (right click my computer then properties, then device manager) and check there are no yellow exclamation marks to do with sound. All should be ok
Let me know how you get on!

My Bios crashed in windows so I installed ubuntu and dont know how to use it

Reinstall windows. XP or 7.
Install Virtualbox.
Install ubuntu in virtualbox and practice using it.
There are many manuals for using ubuntu online.
I'd use Ubuntu for dummies just like I did.
Lookfor guides on how to use Virtualbox also.

The operating system that I used in my computer is XP.How would I install ubuntu operating system on my laptop?

the Ubuntu ISO that you choose for you pc needs to be selected (x86 for normal 32 bit pc or x64 for 64bit devices ) download the ISO and burn to cd or DVD your choice. when you running XP insert the disk and it gives you a option to install aside xp or to partition the drive to add ubuntu separately or to do a clean install ( wiping everything ) or boot up with it and it will help partition the XP drive to install alongside xp to do a dual boot.. this can be easy or hard id get a tutorial on this. but the clean install is the easiest and best it wipes out the drive and I'm almost sure everything will work when it comes on look up the model laptop and ubuntu 11.04(newest ) all my devices work all the time and the software is awesome as well as free and virus free
good luck google installing ubuntu for noobs

Ubuntu cant access/save files.

Hello my friend thus your Grubber still functioning? If still works then try to access your XP by selecting Xp in your grubber. Or if you can't access your XP files within the Linux you need to select and open first the XP platform. If you can't find the XP loader or platform or it doesn't starts the XP then it is possible that your XP is overwrite by your Linux platform or some error in writing the linux installation to your XP platform. Will if that is happening right now the only way to regenerate your Xp is to reinstall your XP then after you reinstall it need also to reinstall your Linux otherwise after reinstalling Xp it will overwrite your Linux system will lost forever.
Hope this solution helps your pronblem. If you need more assistance you can reply to this post. Thank you

No sound from system with Ensoniq AudioPCI running XUBUNTU 9.04

There is but one cure for this problem I am afraid and that is install compatible drivers for Ubuntu and your sound card ,windows and Ubuntu are two diffrent languages completely ..
Most manufacturers realise that Linux/ubuntu is popular medie now and do have downloadable drivers on their site , however if you cant find rthem dont despair there are many quick savy programers who use ubuntu and they write their own programs to solve such problems . many of these you will find on the linux site or click on add on's in your menu to go to the ubuntu site for recent updates and downloads the cure to the problem is and only is compatible program drivers .. or a new card with same available ... No sound

When you go from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu) you will have problems as the hardware and drivers were made for Windows and not Linux. Ubuntu does not always automatically pick up your hardware. Here's what you can do to make it easier. The latest Ubuntu is 8.10 so you need to download the latest version. Then once that is downloaded you need to look at the top bar, there will be a red arrow asking you to download the latest patches. Take those steps as it will bring you current version and current software and may allow your sound card to work.

About driver

I think it would make the most sense to reinstall Vista with a functional Vista disc (should be DVD). Alternatively you can check HP's Website for XP drivers which may not exist if it came with Vista. You could also reinstall Ubuntu. If you want a dual boot with Ubuntu you should install Windows first and Ubuntu will provide that option when setting it up and allow you to resize the Windows partition and create separate partitions for Ubuntu.
