Question about Apple iPhone 3G

1 Answer

I have an iPhone 3G/16GB that I bought to repair. It was reporting "No Service" after the sim card was installed and I assuemed it was a bad antenna connection so I replaced the complete dock assenmbly hoping that would solve the issue. It did not. Everything on the phone functions 100% wi-fi, GPS all buttons etc. but I cannot get it to connect to service (edge or 3G). I'm thinking it may be an issue with the sim connector or possibly a software issue as the last owner tried to unlock/jailbreak it. I'm leaning towards the sim connector because there is evidents that someone dimpled the sim cover on the main board to try to get better contact between the sim card and the contacts. What do you think, does it sound like a fixable problem and if so,, who do you recommend? I have no problem shipping it to someone that is reputable. Thanks, Michael

It is very possible that this was a bad unlock. Is there a work around for this? I have tried restoring in regular and DFU mode to no avail.
    Any suggestions?

We repair iPhones.
If it was a bad unlock this is a common problem.

Sim card for iphone 3g?

Yes, provided the iPhone 3G is not locked with any other different network. If it is then, you need to unlock the iPhone. To unlock an iPhone the remote unlock service would be a better option because, you need not give your mobile to someone else nor do you have any chance to enter the wrong unlock codes. To get such an unlocking service for your iPhone 3G approach Wickedunlock.com and by submitting the country and network to which the mobile is locked to you will be able to remove the restriction from the respective network. This will be a permanent unlocking solution. Once unlocked you can swap networks. The iPhone 3G supports Mini sim...and hence insert the respective sim size.

I drop my iphone 3g 16gb and i got no signal

If the phone still powers up with a good screen then your probably damaged your internal antenna. This can be replaced for $30-$50 at most cell repair centers.

How to insert a sim card into a Apple iPhone 3G 16GB

Remove the battery cover, then remove the battery and you should see the SIM slot, the rest is self explanatory. Just replace the battery and cover when done and turn on your iPhone.

Iphone 3h no service

Go into your setting<General<Reset<Reset Network Settings   This should fix your problem if it does not then maybe your service provider is to blame, if not just faulty iPhone hardware. In that case you can take your phone into a Apple retail store with an appointment and get it swapped for  a new one.  ( as long as you are within your hardware warranty)
