MY TRUCK WONT START. I NOTICE AM MISSING WHAT APPEARS TO BE A LITTLE BOX MOUNTED ON MY DASHBOARD WITH A LITTLE PUSH BUTTON ON IT. I DON'T KNOW HOW I LOST IT OR IF IT GOT STOLEN. THE FACT IS THAT I DON'T HAVE IT AND NOW MY WONT STAR. WHAT IS THE BOX FOR AND IF IT GOT STOLEN FROM INSIDE OF MY TRUCK, CAN SOME ELSE ACCESS THE CODE TO GET THE TRUCK TO WORK WITHOUT THEM HAVING THE WIRELESS TRASMITTER?

a non specific general answer would be to make sure you unlock the doors, if that's a feature on your remote, then press and hold the start button for a couple seconds. then wait about 5 seconds, the parking lights should blink and the car will start. if this doesnt happen, check audiovox online and see if they have a user's manual for your product, if you cant find it, there should be a tech support phone number or just a general customer service number on their website you can call.
If you require a transponder in order to start the vehicle, it could be a few problems, could be the immobilizer transponder fob, or the immobilizer antenna, or even the immobilizer brain or relay. Few steps to tell, if the LED light doesn't go out for the immobilizer its the transponder fob. If the light does go out then it could be the antenna, brain or relay. These are the problem areas that can be diagnosed.
what type of vehicle and year is it in? Also, most remote start alarms have a neutral safety wire that needs to be grounded and a hood-pin wire that needs to be connected. If the start system was working and has since failed, it is pointing at the hood-pin wire. If it never started remotely, then you may look to the programming on the alarm. Make sure that the tachometer wire is connected and that the tach setting has been programmed. This should take care of it. If not, I would recommend visiting a local stereo shop to have them diagnose what is wrong with the system.
