As per your description, Lan driver got corrupted and need to reinstall the same. Go to device manager and select the network devices and select update driver, then you have to provide the driver location(for drivers- insert the driver CD which is came along with the desktop or download the same from vendor website).

Revert back for more assistance.

    Sorry for the delay in replying. As i mentioned earlier Go to device manager and select the network devices and select update driver, then you have to provide the driver location i.e your USB stick.

Hi,
Do you have the make and model number of the laptop? Also are you sure that the laptop has an "LAN aka Ethernet" port? Are you connecting the wire directly to the laptop? If you go to start> control panel> double click system> go to the Hardware tab > Click Device Manager. See if there are any exclamation points. Once I have more information I can attempt to assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

1st u find out if you have an Internet connection available, then if u do run network diagnostics to see if you can repair the connection, if u need a Local area network driver download it from the internet onto a disc or a floppy using your Laptop and then load it into the desktop, also it you can your ISP (Internet service provider) then they can remotely diagnose the problem and tell you blow by blow how to get up and running again, this is the best approach to the problem. .

The solution I'm suggesting works in my business (LAN installations) about 95% of the time. I trust that it will work for you.

Let's see if I can help you.

Begin by turning on your computer and your router

? Make sure your service provider has activated your account and services on the subscribed line. Please check with your service provider to confirm this.
? Make sure that you are using the latest drivers. You can download the latest driver from Driver Downloads Database.
? Make sure that you have entered the right username and password (case-sensitive) as given by your service provider. For example, in Australia: user@bigpond; in NZ: user.name.xadsl@xtra.co.nz.
? Open Internet Explorer;
? Click on 'Tools';
? Click on 'Internet Options';
? Click on 'Connections';
? Click on 'Setup'
? Click on 'I want to set up my Internet connections manually . . .';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'I connect through a local area network (LAN);
? Clock on 'Next'
? Click on 'Next' [This is not an error];
? Click on 'No';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'To connect to the Internet immediately . . .; and,
? Click on 'Finish'.

That should have you online. However, if it doesn't get you connected, do the following: Click on tools again. Click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems' and follow the instructions.

The last choice is to use the Setup Wizard. It seldom works for me but you might have more luck than poor me. Here are the instructions:

The Connect to the Internet wizard will guide you through the steps of setting up an Internet connection.

Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by:

• Clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button
• Click on Control Panel.
• In the search box, type network,
• Click "Network and Sharing Center"
• Click Set up a new connection or network
• Then double-click "Connect to the Internet".

Laptop

If you're Bell sympatico is a wireless modem/router and your laptop has built in wireless on it you just need to connect to the wireless signal of the Bell sympatico then that should be the time you can access internet with the laptop, But if your Bell sympatico is only a plain DSL modem you need to get a wireless router that will share the internet to your laptop and desktop so you can roam in your house with your laptop here is a sample of wireless router Linksys WRT54G.

Hope that helps........

How to connect inenter by using lan and ftp

To connect to the Internet you need a few extra things aswell as a network card and install the LAN card driver.
1. You need to sign up with an Internet service provider.
2. Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DSL or cable modem
3. You need a DSL or cable modem and connect and configure the modem to inaccordance with your Internet service provider's instructions.
4. Install Internet Explorer if it has not been done.
5. If everything has been done correctly, when you open Internet Explorer youcan access the Internet. If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to yourwireless router, the router needs its wireless settings to be configuredwith the SSID, encryption key etc., also the wireless cards in all thelaptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings.Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

Acquiring network address (Limited or no connectivity)

1.Check whether you are typing the correct key
2.Remove the preferred networks
3.Disable WLAN/LAN and Enable it
4.Assign static IP address in the range of modem
5.Add the network manually with the security settings
