Pulley coil I have replaced the pulley coil. now it doesnt have a bind. what am i doing wrong

You will have to wind it backwards to tention the spring there should be a notch in the pulley for the rope to sit n while you re tention the coil spring

What have i done wrong/

If you removed the timing cover, you also removed the serpentine/accessory drive belt(s), and probably idler or tensioner pulleys. Make sure they are reinstalled properly. If the engine is hard to turn over, it may be because one of the pulleys is binding. Try removing the drive belt and see if the engine turns over more easily. If so, check to see which pulley is binding.

there is not enough spring travel on the valves The rockers used are incorrect for the cam used and the lift of the cam is making the rocker push the valve too far down and is binding up the spring. You may have something else wrong like extra spacers under the valve springs , valve guides not in far enough valve spring retainers not correctly positioned or wrong inner spring that is binding up. Turn the cam over carefully and see it the distance in the spring coils disappears before fully open the valve.

I have a poulan ppb335 trimmer.The starter pulley spring failed the third time I used it.I had a new spring installed and it failed the second time I used it.Whats going on with my new trimmer.I talked...

The only thing i can think of is the spring has been over wound, and is now coil binding, it is very importent to wind the spring up as to still have at least another turn on the pulley after the rope is fully extended, there is nothing much else to go wrong with the spring.

Starter rope will not pull out all the way. What could the problem be?

There are two possible reasons, one is the rope is too short, or two the starter spring is wound too tight, and is coil binding, start by fitted a new starter cord, and re tention the spring, so as you still can turn the pulley by hand at least a further 1/2 turn with the cord fully out ( to avoid coil binding the spring )

I have a Husqvarna 338. I'm having difficulty re-installing the pull rope. Is there a trick to it or a special tool.

There are no special tools required,with the pulley still connected its just a matter off threading the knotted rope through the starter pulley hole, hold the rope on the side of the pulley and turn the pulley to wind up the spring, allow the pulley to unwind pulling the rope in, with the rope fully extended make sure you still have at least half a turn left on the pulley, this will stop the spring coil binding.

Craftsman 42 in. deck lawn tractor. Will start and idle fine but when you let out on the clutch the motor bogs down and dies

few reasons will try to narrow down first start it and put in neutral and deck disengaged release clutch if bogs then fuel problem the carb may need adjustment or repair or fuel filter needs replacement----if no bog step on clutch no put in gear release clutch if bogs check drive belt -upper belt on engine pulley and check for binding an idler pulley problem -debris -or rear unit binding -needs service-drive pulley damaged-rear locked--if not bogging in gear step on clutch engage deck release clutch if bogs need to check deck -belts-pulleys -mandrels -bearings and for bent or binding blades good luck

Have your hubby take the belt off and turn the pulleys by hand to make sure the idler pulley, a/c pulley, power steering pulley, and the alternator pulley all turn reasonable free and without binding. This is the easiest way to see what's binding and causing the belt to squeal. Another thing is to check alignment of the pulleys to make sure they're all on the same plane. If not, the pulleys will squeal the belt. Most likely a pulley that's the culprit..

94 crown victoria serpentine belt issues...

It is possible that your tensioner pulley is seized and will have to be replaced as well. This happened to my 2001 F-150, the tensioner pulley seized and shredded the serpentine belt.
