((((top load washer machine )))

On the headpanel looking at the knobs
you will see the side covers on the end of the head panel. depending on the model of course, the side covers pop out
lift the bottom of the cover slightly, then the top an pull to the outside
then use a philips screw driver to remove the two screws one on each side, then slightly move the headpanel towards the back , then raise it then up an you right in it

to remove the timer you will see some srews holding the timer from the back, and to remove the knob pop the time knob out an turn it clock counterwise an the knob will come off

just a comment am not sure why you chancing the timer on your washer, but iin case your washer washes an stops right at the spin cycle, and is fill w/water. is not the timer that is bad, check the lid switch may be broken!

good luck post some feedback!

Larry, I want to disable the auto defrost or frost free function on my 20cu ft kenmore freezer

You could disconnect the power to the defrost timer or the heating element itself. I suspect that accessing the timer would be much easier that the heater - but I don't know which model fridge you have.

Replaced timer with part #8299779 in Kenmore Dryer. The timer would run by the off and keep on running. The dryer got really hot to. The new timer did not cur the problem.

Unplug the dryer. Access the 'Start' switch and its terminals. Check the 'Start' switch with an ohmmeter. It is probably fused together internally. It should read zero ohms when not activated.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

Instructions for installing timer part number 8541110 for Kenmore elite wash machine.....

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Then see the following for how to release the console for access to the timer.

Then see the following Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers. It has troubleshooting and testing procedures as well as a description of the TWO types of timers. Each has different procedures for replacing them.$FILE/L-55.pdf

If yours is the metal type, the procedures call for unscrewing the timer knob before it can re removed.

You may need to use a thin needle nose pliers to hold the shaft on the back side of the timer in order to unscrew the knob.

Washer works but I have to advance the machine manually to change the cycle. My model is kenmore 80 series 110.23812100

Unfortunately this sounds like a timer problem.

See the Sears parts site for your washer and look at the "control panel" section.!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.23812100&pathTaken=partSearch

Also see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for these washers. It has a troubleshooting section as well as a description of how to remove either of two types of timers.$FILE/L-55.pdf

And see the following for how to tilt the console back to gain access to the timer.

I'd also try it on a different cycle to verify that it is a timer problem (instead of a Lid Switch problem).

Removal of timer control knob on model 11025842400

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.25842400

Look at the control panel diagram and you should get a good idea of how the timer mounts.

With the basic top load, direct drive washer you should only need to remove the two screws located under the Trim End Caps to get access to the timer.

My Kenmore drier won't stop now! Perhaps timer isn't working?

Hi there. this is a timer issue. it counts down but, the actual shut off dial embedded in the timer mechanism is damaged for some reason. replacing the timer assembly will correct this issue. there are two parts to a timer. One, it times and last, it initiates the shutoff. the second action is not working properly. to be sure, check the relay before you purchase the new timer.

I have also provided you with a complete manual set that you can access and print out if you would like.

Forgot how the wires go on the back of this timer

Kenmore usually glues a copy of the wiring diagram/schematic on the inside of the back service access panel, or folded up inside the control head.

If you can't find it, give me the full model number and let me see what I can find.
