Hi, I don't know which laptop you have, but normally cyberlink youcam is pre-installed. May be even microsoft lifecam.
There should be something there.

If you are using msn or skype or any other social software then you will have to setup webcam in the tools / options section of the relevent software.

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards - Anthony

Download  AMCAP2, from here,

OK, install the "Driver" then plug in camera. Then run Amcap select your webcam from  the "Devices" tab, also check the Preview under the "Options" tab. You should be able to see an image.

If it is all OK, get yourself a good WebCam software and use that if you wish.

Select the recording tab and then double click the relevant microphone.

Then, go to the Levels tab and from there you can set the volume and make sure that it is enabled.

For you to be able to use the webcam application on your laptop, you need to first install the application on the laptop.

You can go to your laptops program files and search for the application that runs the webcan and install it.

If you do not find it, then go to toshibas website and download the application that supports the webcam.

How do i set up my web camera how do i use my built in camera in my laptop

Using a 3rd-party software like Skype or Yahoo! Messenger, you need to configure those software in order to use your webcam.

Open YM and go to Preference (Options for Skype)
Go to My Webcam and configure your software to use your built-in webcam and click save

For Skype, Select Options then Video settings...

Don't forget to click save after setting the webcam.

Windows 7 on my CQ41-208AU compaq - webcam problem

Goto your google mail. Then select options there. Under the "chat" tab, click on + symbol which shows you the options to verify the voice and video settings. If it prompts you to install Adobe flash player or Google voice and video plugin, go for it and complete the installation. Now if you could see your webcam video there in Gmail Chat settings window, then it denotes that the driver for your webcam got installed already.
So if you need to cature pictures using webcam, just driver wont help. you need to install some utility software as well for that after the driver installation is done. Please download a such utility from here
I hoep this is helpdul to you.
    Thanks for using fixya

The Audio in my webcam central won't seem to work can anyone help me fix this problem when i first got my dell it seemed to work but now it doesn't and i want to record a video but the audio won't seem to...

I have a Dell 1545 with Dell web cam central & I've had this issue. The problem is that Dell web cam central installs it's own microphone settings onto your laptop called something like Dell web cam Live!. This isn't the built in microphone in my laptop & maybe not yours either. You have to change the settings for your computer system & Dell web cam central. Go to start> control panel> sound> recording .. on mine there is an option for Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" ... that is the built in mic. You want that for your default & apply it. Then open Dell web cam central & go to the "Record Video's" option. In the middle of this is an orange button with a video camera icon. Next to this on the same button is a little arrow pointing down .. click that. Under microphone .. choose Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" just like the sound option in control panel. I've done this & it's completely fixed. I can record videos with sound & use my built in mic in voice/video chat.

    Can't find it?

Insert the webcam pin in the motherboard. Which is located at the back of CPU. Go to control panel. Double click add new hardware icon. Select the webcam option from the list. Then install the driver by inserting the webcam driver CD which you got while purchasing webcam. It will install the driver. Restart your computer. That's it!

The webcam software on my Toshiba P200 seemed to be a bit temperamental: the built-in cam (Chicony USB) wouldn't start when trying to start a video conversation on MSN and attempts to configure it gave messages which said it wasn't connected.
I cured the problem by going into the windows Vista control panel, opening the Device manager, opening the Image devices folder and uninstalling the Chicony USB camera. I opted not to remove the driver just in case I couldn't get it back again from Internet.
After rebooting, the web camera software, a toolbar that comes out of the left-hand side of the screen when you move the mouse there, now seemed to function. The buttons seemed to work OK (they didn't before or were temperamental).
On my computer you can also start the software by going into Start / Programmes / Camera Assistant. No idea who the software publishers are.
Whether or not this software is running, I can start my webcam using the [Alt] - [F7] shortcut mentioned in the software's help pages.
    Hope this helps.
